I propose we hack into Toady's PC and thus retrieve the fabled source code! WHO IS WITH ME! (silence ensues...)

Hehe, as much as I would like to play the next version right this moment, I can wait. Some of the bugs he has nailed in the last day or two we're pretty bad, and they still have friends about. Another week or two isn't that bad.

Oh no, I know all about forum drama. I've been to some pretty tense places, but in my my book, any drama is too much drama.

Well I've been re-reading what I've said, pondering on what I've said, and I don't see anything that would be offensive to the developer, since he programs for himself, not as a job.  Except, perhaps, that swamps have always been bugged.  I said it all in jest and with my understanding that bugs like that are going to happen.

Those of you that take offense to this post, PM me and I'll let you know what you can kiss.    :D

The time it would take to do that would be better spent on nabbing Spore from Maxis.

Not that I'd help with such a project. Please don't lawyer-bomb me, EA, I'm a poor college student D:

For the record, I am more then willing to run over all the land mines that are bound to appear.

I do so because, frankly, I have never shown so much devotion to a game in recent memory.

The last game that really stuck with me like this? Baldur's Gate 2. That was nearly half a decade ago.

I read about that one once upon a time. It sounded great and I was excited. Now, until someone produces a box and a disk, I'm considering it fogware, a little more substance than vaporware, but just as substantial. Just as soon get impatient waiting for the last Wheel of Time book, which, if we're all extremely fortunate will be published posthumously with a ghostwriter.

I'm trying to figure out if you already know that Robert Jordan's dead.

Well, I guess if you didn't then you know now.

Make sure to get a Spore revision from a while back, before they made it all cartoon-shitty.

To clarify:

Judging from past videos vs. recent videos, Spore has gone from this:

to this:

So what if Spore isn't OMFG HARDCORE?   Dude, it's a family friendly hame, as pretty much all Will Wright stuff is.   Furthermore, from what I've seen, there's a lot of cartoony stuff and an equal amount of not-so-cartoony stuff involved.   The game's not even out yet, and what's more, the art direction is like the least important thing about what makes the game awesome.

Yeah, I'm the same way.  I hear everybody ranting about Spore and I just sit there with an expression that any internet user would immediately caption as "wtf".

Wil Wright has developed the habit of tailoring his games to the widest possible consumer base. How many of you know non-gamers who tried and loved The Sims? He pulls in people who otherwise wouldn't touch a game with a ten foot pole.

For hardcore gamers, that's not necessarily so good. But still, there's something to be said for bringing the fun of computer gaming to new people.

And Spore really looks like it will be what you make of it. You can tag as your "favorite" the person who creates creepy, scary monsters and populate your world with them, even if the engine style has largely shifted to cartoony cuteness. I tell ya, once you see a Care Bear with fangs, you don't feel like sharing your feelings anymore!

My goal will be to populate a world entirely with replicas of D&D monsters.
