Question on dead dwarves items

So, recently, I had a few of my dwarves die to carp. I air-drowned the suckers (Fittingly, my leader went about it) and ended up with a whole crapload of items from the dead dwarves, and the corpses themselves. So, I wanted to ask, what do the dwarves do with the dead guys items?

Well, they most likely toss them in the nearest finished goods stockpile (assuming we're talking about clothing, any weapons/armor go in the appropriate places as well)

Of course, if a dwarf has worn clothes (x or X or XXX)  They'll drop that and put on whatever the other dwarf was wearing.

Sometimes they'll just randomly claim a piece of clothing, and go and put it in their coffer or cabinet in their room.

That's.. all I've seen.
