[40c] Amputee Liaison
« on: August 21, 2008, 11:26:53 am »

So, the liaison assigned to my fort was missing a right foot. This isn't a bug by itself, but it's annoying how slow-moving he is (he also falls unconscious all the time). Why would the parent civ force this guy to travel large distances is beyond me. Anyway, the real bug is that he brings a sock and a shoe with himself every time, and drops them on the edge of the map. Apparently they give him the replacement footwear even though he doesnt need it.

The sock is a trap for your dwarves.

The liaison is just a master of disguise. He has two legs. He just hides the other one really well.

Huh... I'm getting that too.

Liason with his entire left leg missing...
I think this classify as a bug.  It's the first time he showed up, and he's already missing legs...

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

Liaisons unlike most other dwarves don't appear out of nowhere. You can check out their names in the legends screen. I had one who had shot and killed a 400 year old dragon!

However, it does result in them sometimes missing limbs. One way to fix it is to check if they have any wounds at all and if they do, then deny them the position.

How do you deny them of their position?

Same way as you "Reassign" your other nobles.

I thought outpost liaison is irreplaceable.

By the player yes.  By the King?  Be willing to bet not.

I've been getting a similar bug, but with members of invading sieges. It only happens with non goblins who are leading goblin squads, so I assume they're historical figures who were grabbed by goblin baby snatchers. The most recent one fell unconscious immediately upon entering the map, due to a missing leg from the hip down and a ripped out eye and nose.

Of course, his gob-squad just sits around him at the edge of the map until the siege is broken, at which point they flee and leave their incapacitated leader at the mercy of my champions.

Congratulations on being fixed - will that also stop those messages in adventure mode (Human swordsman drops a glove! a mitten! has fallen unconscious!)?
