Dunespattered: Desert Succession
« on: August 20, 2008, 06:27:08 pm »

Test post for Justice!

I was wondering if there would be any interest in starting a succession game (how original!) based in the middle of an almost featureless desert (with included brook full of lamprey. A steal at $9.95! Call now!) Successors are free to do whatever, no matter how loony or unnecessary. Make a new river. Declare jihad on all things beginning with R. Make a glass tower full of camels. We won't stop you.

The game will be on an ummodded release of 40a. We'll switch off every year, starting with the announcement of spring, per standard. If a ruler can't fulfill ministerial duties due to problems in the real world, that ruler's most recent save will be used.

No DF talent required!

I've been itching to get me some succession game ever since I read Boatmurdered two weeks ago.  Endless plain of sand?  Excellent.  I was thinking of that for my next fort anyway. (That or a glacier. ;D)  Sign me up!

So it turns out that dumping magma on skeletons is either a really bad idea or maybe like the best idea ever.

I'm in, as long as the fort is smaller than 4x4.

When you get a pm bay12 will send you an automated email saying it is there. So yes it is quite useful.

Iīd apreciate to be included as well, except that i have a single request;try to find a map that has at least one biome without an aquifier, otherwise itīll be almost impossible to get past it,since the aquafier usually stretches throughout the whole "x" Z-layer of the entire map.
(yes, speaking of personal expierences. On the Plus-side,farming undergroundcrops in a desert is rediciously easy)

I'll join. I need some experience playing succession games. It will also be interesting trying to play with an aquifer, as I normally try to avoid them.

Sorry, NTheGreat. The area I've picked out has no aquifer. Trust me, there will be plenty of other challenges.

Well, this looks like enough interest to get started. I'll go write up an introduction.

Go on then. Sign me up.

Are we having magma? If we've got magma and a ton of sand, we could make some cool stuff from green glass (I feel another tower coming on) without too much trouble. Without magma, it'll mean importing tons of wood...

I'll try and keep up with the thread, but PM me when my turn comes around just in case I forget.

Meh, I don't mind that there's no aquifer. I'm sure there be plenty else for me to deal with after 7 8 years.

EDIT: Need to learn to count.
