The Super hardcore Carp strike again!
« on: August 19, 2008, 05:45:47 pm »

Two of my founding members have died trying to retrieve something. And my dwarves keep trying to get at the dead founding members. How do I stop them so they don't get killed by the carp?

And thus did the dream of dwarven antigravity fade away, not with a massive explosion or a flood of magma, but with a whimper.

I'm going to be depressed all day now.

Step 1: forbid everything in/near the river.
Step 2: Provide plenty of booze so your Dwarves never have to go to the river for a drink
Step 3: Build a well far from the river. Block off the channel with vertical bars so fish can't swim into your well reservior.

Also, in the orders menu, make sure fishing and water-source are zone-only.

With the newest version (40a), you can set it so corpses and/or their possessions are automatically forbidden. This doesn't work after the fact (i.e. after the dwarf has already died), but you can set it up beforehand. If a dwarf dies and you want the corpse/items retrieved, you can manually permit it, of course.
