[40a] Fortress Mode Embark Problem

I have been having a recurring problem that has just started to crop up on version 40a.  It seems that when I embark, a portion of the edges of the map where I should be embarking are shaved away.  So, for example, if I embark in a 6 x 6 rectangle, it somehow crops down to a 4 x 4 or similar.  I tested this by putting features such as magma on the edge of my embark rectangle, and I can never get them to appear when they are on the left, bottom, or right edge.  The top middle seems to be fine.

Hmm...I just embarked in a 3x2 with magma in the lower left and river in the lower right, both of which are actually present.

If its anything to note, I'm also getting a minimap problem where I know I'm hitting the edge of the minimap, but its showing up like I'm still 2 or 3 minimap tiles away.

I'm gonna try a fresh zip and see if the problem crops up again.  If it does I'll post me a good illustrated guide of whats going on.

EDIT: I just tested it, and it seems to have a problem with custom grid sizes.  I'm running a 1600 x 900  160 square by 75 square grid.  First thoughts are if it could possibly have something to do with it cutting off 160 x 75 on the sides/ bottom, which would do it.  When I ran at the default size, the embark worked perfectly.

Hate to rebump, but now this problem has mutated a wee bit.  Now in 40C, It seems to chop off the bottom part of what I'm embarking to if I run it at a large grid size (160 across by 75 high).  If I embark with normal sizes it seems fine.  I have my sides now, but if I try to embark with features such as magma in the bottom of my embark area, I cant access/ see them.

If you export a map image and divide down by the tile size, is it actually changing your embark rectangle size?  It's easier to diagnose with the actual numbers rather than whether or not a feature is immediately visible.  Each local map square is 48x48 tiles in play.
