Modding out the megabeast tag for the Dragon would allow you to catch them more readily I'm sure, having them spawn normally  (although I haven't actually TESTED that)...  But that wouldn't answer the question of whether you could get megabeasts to breed...  Maybe I'll mod up their frequency a ton and see if I can get a couple to expirament on.

*chuckles*  Baby dragons, runnin' around my fortress... such an entertaing thought.

Well, hopefully they don't get the idea to take a nice, relaxing swim in your magma.

Dragons are pathetic. Keep him away from bolts & arrows!

Whenever a dragon appears on my map at the same time as gobbo ambushers/siegers they pump it full of arrows and kill it in like two seconds.

Anyone know if it is possible to breed dragons at all?  I'd be interested to know, since such a thing might motivate me enough to actually hold onto a fortress long enough that I can usher in a new age of draconic terror and horror upon the rest of the world.

It was, uh, mentioned like 4 posts ago. Multiple times.

If you want baby dragons you need to mod the text files to do so, they don't breed naturally.

If you modify the tags, they'll breed. In theory. I don't think anyone has ever actually tried it.

Careful with the dragon by the way.  If He killed any dwarves (in your fort) before being caged, he's tamable but will attack you once he's tame.  However, being tame means he won't hit traps.

I meant actually done it.  I'm sorry if I saddened you by not being oblivious, but I was referring to actual results, not some text slapped into a raw file.  So, has anyone actually done this?

Nah, the only thing he killed was a donkey. And I haven't even let him out of his cage yet, mostly for fear he'll go for a swim in the magma.

Ok, I have a problem. I set up a death chamber and put in a few goblins in cages, and sure enough, once let loose he incinerated them, but when I released the dragon I noticed that he has a looped off eye and a light grey neck wound. He probably got those from my markdwarves before I caught him. Now, he's stumbling around, falling unconscious now and then. He can still kill a few goblins, of course, but he's not the machine of death I've dreamed of.

Is it possible that he's still falling unconscious because of the eye wound, or is it the neck wound? Shouldn't the neck wound heal eventually? And won't the eye wound stop hurting?

That's a problem with the current system for wounds, at the moment.  All creatures will suffer 'phantom pain' from lost limbs and such, even well after the wound has occurred.  The problem is most likely the missing eye, and you cannot do much about it unless you use a utility, such as Companion, to heal the missing eye.
