Author Topic: (39e, probably 39f) Passive-aggressive Semimegabeast, among other things.  (Read 501 times)

I was messing around with a few mods of mine, and I received a quest to kill a custom semimegabeast that had slain four people. Although I was slaughtered by supersonic manta rays and exploding monkeys halfway to the cave for the first few attempts, I eventually reached the cave and found the offending semimegabeast.

I was wondering why it didn't approach me or fight back, so I figured I must've forgotten to add legs or something, and checked his wounds. All light grey. Huh. (I later decided this was probably because the beast didn't have sufficient layering and was damage by the cold surroundings).

I checked my raws, and nothing appeared to be wrong with it, so I hacked away at it just for the hell of it. After about four or five glancing blows:

He then proceeds to beat the hell out of me for a few rounds, then becomes comatose again.

I beat him up for about twenty seconds, get bored, and try to leave, and I suddenly find him on the other side of the small cave-room. Still doesn't attack m-

Actually, when I said he beat the hell out of me, I was exaggerating a little. I had actually parried every shot, which brings me to another oddity. He had several attacks, but he wasn't using any of them; he was merely "striking me." Maybe because he didn't feel like using bruised parts, I dunno how severe the wound has to be.

Anyway, he quickly goes comatose again, I hack away again, he emerges from his stupor again, "I killed four people! Fear me!"

So I beat him up a bit, and all of a sudden, he vanishes, leaving no trace except a smear of blood. I doubt I killed him, as he was size 20, had a decent damblock, and I never managed to do more than a brown wound.

Seeing as he had taken my armor earlier, during one of his angy phases, I was a bit peeved, so I looked for him, eventually finding him about twenty yards to the north.

I poke him with my sword with little success for another twenty seconds, he emerges from his brain-dead slumber, and yells at me some more. More extreme violence. He vanishes again, and pops up near where I first found him.

...etcetera, etcetera. I eventually got bored and quit. All in all, it was a very bizarre experience. A summary of the oddities I encountered during this excursion:

-The beast was for the most part, brain-dead (not unconscious, no flashing icon, it just didn't do anything), and every 10-20 seconds it would wake up, perform it's "I BE EVIL" speech, and do some unusually weak attacks before going back to "sleep" (Might be a problem with the raws)

-The beast would occaisonally teleport a short distance away

Aside from the random teleporting, I'm not sure whether this is a bug, or just a problem with the mod. On the off chance that it's the latter, I provide the creature file:

(I just noticed it doesn't have HOMEOTHERM, which is probably the cause of the odd wounds, but that still leaves one thing that's probably a bug and one that might not be but could still possibly be a bug)

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Well for one thing there's a typo in one of his attacks, "BYOKEN" instead of "BYTOKEN" for the stinger.

Just for the record, I put HOMEOTHERM in and it fixed everything, though I'm still not sure why he was teleporting earlier. Might be an issue related to wounded creatures.

Also, oddly enough, his sting attack worked even with the typo. Didn't generate an error message, either. Huh.
