Still Alive By GlaDos  ;D(!!PORTAL!!) ;D
all my Fortress needs now is the portal gun and my fortress shall be complete with the endless loop stonefalls.
that and Carp with lazors attached to their heads
*Evil Laughter* 8)

I don't see what a game about teleportation set in a futuristic laboratory has to do with dwarves.
By the way, the song is written by Jonathan Coulton and sung by Ellen McLain.

"This was a triumph
I'm making a note here: Huge success
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction"

Or, in other words, Losing is Fun!

"Aperture Science
We do what we must, because we can
For the good of all of us
Exept the ones who are dead"

This echoes my approach to the game, at least. Why does the fortress need to be made entirely of glass? Why not? The last bit is a reference to the high death rate in most forts.

"But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive"

Regardless of the high death rate, the fortress can keep going, as long as there's "cake", or high-quality meals to keep everyone happy. And the "neat gun" is an artifact crossbow. Okay, I'm maybe streching this a bit.

No actually I think that song fits well. It has the same feel to it in general (especially when the fortress creator enjoys creating migrant death traps hehe).

Oh... what is the malt and liquor?
What gets you drunken quicker?
What comes in bottles or in cans? (Beer)
Can't get enough of it (Beer)
How we really love it (Beer)
Makes me think I'm a man (Beer)
I could kiss and hug it (Beer)
But I'd rather chug it (Beer)
Got my belly up to here (Beer)
I could not refuse a (Beer)
I could really use a beer, beer, beer

Beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer

I can't remember how much I have had
I drank a twelve-pack with my dad (BURP!)
That's my son the drunken manly stud
I'm proud to be his bud
Here have some pretzels
No, I'll call it quits
Those things give me the shlits (ha ha ha)

Drink with your family
Drink it with your friends
Drink till you're fat, stomach distends
Beer is liquid bread, it's good for you
We like to drink till we spew! Ew!
Who cares if we get fat?
I'll drink to that

As we sing once more...

What is the malt and liquor?
What gets you drunken quicker?
What comes in bottles or in cans? (Beer)
Can't get enough of it (Beer)
How we really love it (Beer)
Makes me think I'm a man (Beer)
I could kiss and hug it (Beer)
But I'd rather chug it (Beer)
Got my belly up to here (Beer)
Golly, I adore it! (Beer)
Come on dammit, pour it!
Do it for me, brew it for me
Feed it to me, speed it to me (Beer)
The most wonderful drink in the world
HOORAY!!! (BURP)

Oddly enough I find it weird that Dwarves currently cannot attain godhood.

Drunken Lullabies, by the Floggin Mollies. As featured in one of the old Tony Hawk's Pro Skaters. (3 and 4, I beleive)

Yet we find ourselves in the same old mess!
Singin' drunken luuuulllaabiiiies!

Tom Waits - Singapore

We sail tonight for Singapore
We're all as mad as hatters here
I've fallen for tawny moor
Took off to the land of Nod
Drank with all the Chinamen
Walked the sewers of Paris
I danced along a colored wind
Dangled from a rope of sand
You must say goodbye to me

We sail tonight for Singapore
Don't fall asleep while you're ashore
Cross your heart and hope to die
When you hear the children cry.
Let marrow bone and cleaver choose
While making feet for children shoes
Through the alley
Back from Hell
When you hear that steeple bell
You must say goodbye to me.

Wipe him down with gasoline
Till his arms are hard and mean,
From now on boys this iron boat's your home
So heave away boys.

We sail tonight for Singapore
Take your blankets from the floor
Wash your mouth out by the door
The whole town is made of iron ore
Every witness turns to steam
They all become Italian dreams
Fill your pockets up with earth
Get yourself a dollar's worth
Away boys, away, boys, heave away

The captain is a one-armed dwarf
He's throwing dice along the wharf
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is King
So take this ring

The music itself really helps make it dwarfy, though.

Disturbed - The Curse comes to mind.

Marked for demolition, I'm
Just a time bomb ticking inside
No hope for the hopeless,
I can see the pieces are laid out in front of me

No point even asking why
Couldn't help even if you try
Step inside and you might just be the next contestasnt
To feel the Brutality!

Devastation, Obliteration
Are all in a part of Eccasorbation
There's no explaining my situation,
Now why does this shit keep happening to me?

I've held on too long just to let it go now,
Will my inner strength get me through it some how
Defying the curse that has taken hold
Never surrender,
I'll never be overcome!

Too dark for forgiveness, I
Can't seem to do anything right
When I try to rebuild I see my humble shelter
Just fall to the ground again

Object to the evil, I
No point to let anyone try
Take heed my friend lest you be torn assunder
Like all that's become of me

Descimation, Decintagration
All being apart of imagination,
There's no explaining my situation
Now why does this shit keep happening to me?

I've held on too long just to let it go now,
Will my inner strength get me through it some how
Defying the curse that has taken hold
Never surrender,
I'll never be overcome!

Would befit a Boatmurdered-esque fortress quite well... The lyrics, at any rate. The music, maybe less so.

Lilium. It is the theme song to the Elfen Lied anime. Whenever I hear it I can imagine what a Dwarf Fortress world would look like in real life. *imagines carp eating dwarves*
Well almost  :P

For some reason I can't get Fascination Street out of my head. Godhead used it on their Non-Stop Ride album, and that's the only version I've heard. I'm the type to make huge superhighways through the mountain and I envision this giant glowing city of dwarven activity. It is indeed fascinating.

oh it's opening time
down on fascination street
so let's cut the conversation
and get out for a bit
because i feel it all fading and paling
and i'm begging
to drag you down with me
to kick the last nail in
yeah! i like you in that
like i like you to scream
but if you open your mouth
then i can't be responsible
for quite what goes in
or to care what comes out
so just pull on your hair
just pull on your pout
and let's move to the beat
like we know that it's over
if you slip going under
slip over my shoulder
so just pull on your face
just pull on your feet
and let's hit opening time
down on fascination street

so pull on your hair
pull on your pout
cut the conversation
just open your mouth
pull on your face
pull on your feet
and let's hit opening time
down on fascination street

As someone who's actually lived for quite a while in Singapore i must say, what the heck?

Singapore is and was never ever anything like how it was portrayed in the last Pirates movie. Singapore has a remarkably boring history.
