Shooter
« on: August 15, 2008, 07:48:39 pm »

You wanted it, you got it.  Here is my personal toy version of the "Shooter" mod, not yet intended for human consumption.

Currently includes:
Two guns.
Dwarves live in cities.
Cheap, light ammo.
Play as goblins.
Kobolds can bite.

Things I'd like to think I will eventually add:
More gun types.
'Nades.
Revised body structure (to limit the over-effectiveness of bullets)
Monsters that are either really numerous or really, really tough.
Maybe some bulletproof vests, just for kicks.

That's the result of five seconds of gameplay.  First move my character ever made.

Wow, you can always decrease the damage of the bullets that would be unrealistic so nevermind. You could make matrix instincts or something, if thats even possible. So if you are getting shot at there is a chance of it going into slow motion for a turn or two.

Nope, not possible.  And I thought about lowering bullet damage.  Heck, I even tried it.  But then I got far too many bullets bouncing off of semi-powerful hides, and the bullets that did hit did paltry damage.

So, instead, I added another zero.  Now it's perfect.

You're not supposed to live through getting hit unless you're exceptionally tough, so you can withstand the pain and the bleeding.  And although mortality rates are skyrocketing, you are also given the tools to take out at least a couple people in a highly satisfactory manner right from the get-go.

Like I said, this mod isn't finished.  I intend to add a lot of things to make the guns stick out a little less.

Also, you can dodge bullets.  Get perfectly agile with legendary wrestling skill, and there's a chance you'll jump out of the way.

:D NICE! That is pretty dang cool, you should add things like sniper rifles and mounted gatling gun siege engines. I will be really happy when it is DF compatible!

If only we could edit the range of projectiles, then the world would be good.

For sure. And firiing speed. This would make all the sniper rifles, miniguns, gauss cannons, H&K and other weapons in Fallout mod much more authentic.

That was brilliant, sir.

If you use bullets as melee weapons, they deal 1000 damage. AWESOME.

Or THROW them. Who needs a gun?  ;D

Edit: Just tried it out. Man it's hard to find anything to fight.

I tried attacking a human leader as a goblin but of course i had to pistol whip him to acquire him as a target. Then he shot me in the head.

And wolves spawning in your backpack are extra deadly since theres no melee weapons or shields. Shoot one and the rest kill you instantly.

Would it be possible to make body parts with guns on them? Example: Lower Right Arm = Right Gatling Gun

No. You could make a weapon called an "arm-cannon", but it really wouldn't be the same. (Samus et al. beside.)

Who needs to pistol-whip people when you can BULLETWHIP them?

I tried that later. Took about 5 more moves than just shooting the elf. I got sniped directly after finally killing him too. But i guess thats normal with this mod.  :P

Kagus, you should make this ModBase compatible. That way I don't have to hassle with the raws.  ;D

Technically speaking, bullets only do 50 damage.  1000 x 0.5 lead modifier, which is then divided by ten (weapon damage numbers in the raw files are multiplied by ten.  I'm not sure why).  Still though, that's worth between 25 - 50 punches.

And if you really want to break it by throwing buckshot at people and stabbing wolves with bullets, go right ahead.

As for ModBase, I'll see what I can do about it.
