How Do I Raise Appraiser Skill?

I just realized that I overlooked something major! My leader doesn't have appraiser points!! How do I raise them in fortress mode?

Open and Closing Trade Menu

Sell lots of stuff. (Do small transactions)

Usually I end up seeing prices on the first time I trade.

But sometimes it takes three or four trades.  Just do things like "(Leather Bin)" for "Iron Plate Mail" and you won't piss off the traders.
