Works with vanilla Spore, though the patch has to be reinstalled if you install GA over it.
(Why call it vanilla, though? Vanilla has flavour! ;) )

If you don't like spore, why do you keep up with this thread and clutter it?  Some of us actually want to talk about stuff like what we've made and things like that.

Because complaining is a fun pastime.   ;)

Eh.  Just the modern slang I guess.  Well, the only term I know, really.

I can think of a lot that I'd do with asymmetric creatures.  For one, giving my skeleton-bird knights one sword and one shield instead of two swords.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I call them skellestructure.  The idea is that they are a small squid-like creature that picks up and uses old bones to form a better body.

Shame that I haven't seen any examples yet. :(  I really want to go home and try.

Weapons would indeed work great this way.  Or two different heads next to each other.  Or tripodal creatures with 2 right legs.  Or crabs with one huge claw.
The possibilities are endless.

Now, if only it was possible to ban specific creatures from my game... I want to be picky and just delete any creature that looks boring or unnatural, same for vehicles and buildings.  And Maxis creatures.

They did that with exoskeletal limbs as well.

There's a new patch out, for anyone interested.  With some major changes:

- Asymmetric Creatures.
- Ability to export creatures to 3D modeling software (Maya)
- Attack ratio of planets has been tweaked some more, as have various other balance thingies.
- Bug fixes, Adventures interface fixes, other fixes.
hallelujah...

Best creature design application EVER, and they forgot to add the export button

I believe you can just free up one of your installs using a tool from the EA website, giving you unlimited installs, just not at the same time.

No, they didn't.
Quote from: Patch Notes
Creatures exported with the new Collada exporter will automatically have diffuse map, normal map, and spec map applied to them when imported into Maya, 1 step!
• In the Creature Editor, with the creature ready switch to Paint Mode, name the creature, if it doesn't already have one
Open the cheat window.
• Type: colladaexport
• Accept the EULA
• The file path to the exported creature will appear in the cheat window, ending with .dae

How does having to do a bunch of things that don't involve clicking a button mean that they didn't forget to include an export button?

I was more exclaiming exultant joy at them finally adding the export button while lamenting the failure to add it at release than I was saying it wasn't working

I'm gonna have to leave spore alone until they make a few more changes. The assemetrical is cool and will lead to another 50 billion creations but it is all pointless if the status system doesnt change.

More parts need to = better monster/vehicle. And the size of the creature needs to effect it as well.

There's a little thing called balance...
If adding more parts of the same kind continues to make you more powerful, people will just make creatures with 50 health parts and be unstoppable.
lamenting the failure to add it at release
There's not going to be an export button.
mean that they didn't forget to include an export button?
Because they didn't "forget", there wasn't going to be one to begin with.

More parts require more points, and the auto balances will put it in so you have some monsters stronger then you and then some weaker then you.

Also bigger = need more food.
