I personally don't mind, because SecuRom gives you back your install if you register it online and it registers an uninstall, and unless your buying 3 new pcs or reformatting constantly, then 4 or 3 is enough.
Yeah, that's when it "works". I remember after Bioshock came out and the system wasn't giving your "installs" back. So people would call tech support, who would then email them requesting a timestamped picture of their gamebox, disc, and receipt, then they would manually reset your "intalls".

Fuck SecuRom

Great.  I can't wait to wait and see what they ended up doing with the DRM and how much they dumbed it down before I decide whether or not to buy it! :D

I've never really cared about DRM... stupid people can try and protect software all they want, but the fact is, if you try and protect it, there are people out there who will crack it, simply because they can.

DRM will die, eventually. In the meantime, you put up with its fleeting annoyances. Human nature will reign supreme once more.

Also, here in Australia it's coming out on the 4th. Most likely at about 4:00 in the afternoon (16 hours ahead down here ;)) I pre-ordered, because I heard you can destroy planets with a well-aimed comet.

Australia? Do you happen to know anyone with the last name "Powley"? I doubt it, but worth a shot asking.

Concerning DRM, it's simply not worth it. Like Drug laws, people will simply do it because a corp or the government doesn't want them to. It also doesn't keep from multiple installs anyways, people who have the disk could very well lend the disk to a friend so they'd have it. Sure, DRM minimizes the likelihood of that, but it also minimizes the profits from the game due to people not buying it out of principle.

Same DRM as Mass Effect. One time online activation using Securom 7

I knew a guy named Nick Power, but apart from that, no.

Also, Trevelyn. Those were the days.

Power? Ah well, I expected as much.

Can we focus on the game instead of Securom?

I wonder how many times they'll get away with making DRM worse before people stop saying it isn't a problem.

I'm against DRM as a whole. Up to the point that I strongly believe that if I were to make a kickass game, one of the major conditions for me accepting a deal with a publisher would be the lack of any protection on it save a serial for online play.

I may be beating a dead horse here, but how long before enough people realise that threr will never be a pirate-proof piece of software and that the publishers are spending millions on trying anyway, and passing the costs on to us?  We're *paying* them to make our lives inconvenient and take away our privacy.  And once someone finds a way to circumvent a measure, it's only a problem if you obey the law.

In what universe does making only the law-abiding pay for the actions of the transgressors make sense?
