(39f) FPS and G_FPS problem
« on: August 14, 2008, 08:33:42 pm »

I am having a quick with FPS and G_FPS: the reporter is backwards now.
Historically, I would keep FPS high, G_FPS low.  It was jumpy, but the dwarves got things tone.  G_FPS was purely graphical, the game would run fine at the propper speed.
WHat the little 'FPS' reporter at the top of the screen would do is track the game's actual FPS, not the graphical FPS.  Now, however, the FPS displayed represents the graphical: my dwarves can be jumping around like kangaroo mice because of the discrepancy between FPS and G_FPS (and my modding dwarf speed), but it will only report 10FPS.  Meanwhile, if I flip the numbers, I will get 250 FPS reported, while my dwarves walk like zombies on the screen.
WIth this quirk, I can no longer tell how well the game is running, since FPS is a good indicator of actual performance, while G_FPS, especially for those like me who set it low, is not.  Yet G_FPS is what it is reporting.
