Six children per family
« on: August 14, 2008, 05:37:36 pm »

So I look around for some new recruits, and find a maceman in a house with a guard and six children, packing it to the gills. Another house has a further six children in it. Are people more fertile now or something?

Edit: My god.

Yeah, but I've never heard of their being more children than adults in a settlement. O_o

Actually, I think i may have stumbled upon a forest retreat where the children outnumbered the adults, in fact, I stumbled upon two elf children fighting to the death about halfway through the village (The victor was later run through by an adult elf spearman, I assume he had gone insane or the AI reacted to the killing of one of their own badly)

I found a single 3x3 house with 10 children, 2 adults, and 3 guards in it.  Boy, that was fun to be hostile to.

That would lead to some interesting sleeping arrangements, seeing as there's only one bed.

Do children just move out when they become adults, or do they stick around and live with Mom and Pop (in the basement, playing DF)?

If you think that screenshot is bad, look at the roof. They have so many children, they need to pack them on the roof.

Perhaps somebody stumbled upon the results of using x-rated mods.

Remember that people die off in worldgen wars, and that children can't enter the military.  What you're seeing is the result of the adult population getting killed off and leaving behind a city of orphans.

I once came across a town that had about eight adults living in it, counting the five shopkeepers.  Thirty to forty children made up the rest of the population.  All their mommies and daddies had been eaten by elves.

So I made an adventurer who went and destroyed a few elven retreats single-handedly, racking up over two hundred and fifty elven kills.  Then I retired him in that town, so that he could protect the children in the event of another war.

Actually, that's the bar overhang thing where the town leader usually starts off at before coming downstairs. :P

I've only just recently discovered the results of having a town controlled by a species without the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] token.  The hovels are literally packed with the entire families.
