EvilCheerio's Tholfeb "Deeparrows" Succession game
« on: August 11, 2008, 08:06:14 pm »

This thread will be talking about the Succession game i started. The area we will be playing in is a mirthful woodland area. it's not so dangerous as to kill someone if their not really careful, so don't worry about being slaughtered by rampaging elephants (just unicorns).Soon i will start making updates and at the begginning of spring i'll pass it off to the next person. Heres the order we currently have, post here or message me if you want to be next on the list. Just make sure you'll bee able to complete you year (or die trying) and have a good story to go along with it (with screenshots).

I think I'd be willing to try it out, I might not have much experience with fighting (no seiges and I've been playing for about 2 months on various worlds) but I can damn well try.

I think its fine here, dwarf mode discussion is a broad catagory and if I remember corretly theres at least a few succesful succession games in this subforum.

Bah, there've been questions here and nobody has complained. Why bug Cheerio about it? He's a tasty cereal damnit!

But, I'd love to join a succession game, though I'd probably kill it because I suck at food and booze production  ::) So, I'm not gonna. Even though I'd been looking for a succession game.

lol, i'm stupid, i didn't see that games and stories one, how about i set up a second thread in that one thats dedicated to the actually story posts, and this one will the list of people going and other discussions.

Joseph Miles, if you want to join, i'm sure we'll have a dedicated brewer and plenty of food by the time it gets to you, and if you kill us nobody will care, because losing is fun.

Does anyone know the standard way to send the files to the next person, i was just going to go with E-mail, but i'm not sure if theirs an easier way.

also, i kicked Lucky charms ass

Just one thing, I typically play with the mayday graphics modifications to df is that gonna affect any settings for handing it off? (if someone can post the guide to tranplanting the graphics apropriatly that would be awsome since I don't remember it all)

If someone can teach me how to transfer the files, then I'm in.

Dangit, Cheerio, I spent ten minutes looking for this in the stories forum.  :)

Looking forward to this. Never been part of a succession game before.

Well I more or less know how to do it but I'd like the proper directions posted to make sure there isn't anything that would interfear with the save file going from mayday to the regular graphics. I can zip up my copy of dwarf fort so you don't have to go thru with copying files (its 39f), you'de just have to revise the init file to your preferences and I think I added pet tag to giant eagles.

Um, transfering files is easy, all you need to do is go into data\save\and then cut/copy the appropriate region. Everything is self contained within that folder.

Userpay, i use the same graphics set, so thats good for me, now if someone wants to use their own, or(god forbid) the original graphics, then it doesn't matter. The graphics set your using is entirely seperated from your world. Everything in the region folder has a title, and another file brings up those labels, and applies a graphic too them, I personally think the Mayday graphics set is fairly self explanitory, so as long as there's no objection, i'm not going to bother changing it.

If you want to know, our fortress is going to be located underground, built directly into the ground. I'm leaving room in the main entrance for moat-like defenses, but i'm trying to allow wagons to get to our trade depot. On a related note, i'd like to point out that having a layer of ground that can be farmed on is awesome

Um, i'm going to name one of the dwarves after myself, we should all do it for our favorite dwarves. It sounds like fun. Of course if you choose a fighter, you could die in battle.

Sorry Away, that was my bad lol.

i'm in, if you post the instructions
should gen it up,
it would be really nice to have 1 of: flux and iron, or adamantite, or some defining landmark(cave/town) so we have something to focus on

but most of all, a central somewhat isolated peak to be the mountainhome.
