"dwarves prefer to stack items in stockpiles",
i suppose marksdwarves may or may not have got a patch to improve quiver-filling
it might require a new game though, (init option)

what hasn't been implemented
fancy "containers" that will hold iron and bone bolts together in a quiver or on the ground haven't been implemented yet.
(ie, coins from 1290 and 1291 will both be able to stack without loosing data about which has bloody vomit and which has vomitous blood.)

i see a save on Dffd, is that the year currently managed by someone else?

I put a save up on DFFD when my year was done (203) but I don't know if that's the one you're looking at.

It's supposed to be userpay that's up right now, but haven't seen him post since it was his year.

Well it was just decided last night, I'm gonna spend today looking over the situation because I got a few other things going on right now. I will start to play tommarrow and hopefully it won't take to long, I'm hoping to finish my turn sometime friday night max.

If nobody else jumps in I may go for the 8th slot. I'll be away from home all next week, and so it may depend on when the next folks in line finish their turns.

After dinner I plan on playing for at least an hour, most likely two. The only edits I've made to the init file were for my graphics pack (tile color or some nonsense like that) and to fully display engravings.

Journal of Datan “Userpay” Lorbaminsel
1st Granite Beginning of Spring
Was working on making some bone crafts when Zefon pulled me over to talk to me, apparently the work of running Deeparrows has now fallen to me. Why she keeps changing who runs the place around I have no idea or why she has the authority to do so, might have to dig a bit deeper to find out what’s going on. Anyway I took over a nicely furnished, yet unused, room to serve as my office and the office of future administrators of Deeparrows, I’m sure that if it is meant for something else someone will tell me. Almost immediately after setting up the captain of the guard busted in and demanded a better office and dining room as well as a weapon rack and armor stand. I calmed him down the best that I could and told him that I would do the best I could.

4th Granite
Now that I’ve taken a good look around I am somewhat disappointed. No precautions have been taken to keep dwarves from becoming cave adapted, the best I can do for now is make sure that when I say that only soldiers go outside that the entryway is off limits to everyone except soldiers. I may try to make an artificial ceiling to ward off cave adaptation some time in the future. Defenses are somewhat minimal, only a few lines of traps guard the entryway and for some reason there is just a big open courtyard up top. It might sound hypocritical of me to point out any short comings of my predecessors since I’ve been here from the start but I have to guarantee the safety of everyone now. For crying out loud the well is outside the safety of our home. There are nowhere near enough bins (to be honest that is probably partially my fault as one of the only carpenters) and the stockpiles are kinda crammed together. Sigh… I have a lot of work ahead of me.

7th Granite
I ordered that steel weapons be moved into the archery range room. I have done this because looking over our military I think that they have enough experience as wrestlers and don’t want them to gain so much experience that they won’t switch to a weapon. After I help finishing felling trees then I’ll work on bins and hopefully we can get our metal production back up. As a side note I’ve begun work on a goblin death room so we can get rid of our unwanted guests, I think it’s too dangerous to let the military train on them. I’ve also decided that the bone and shell stockpile should be expanded.

12th Granite
I’ve just now knowticed that Catten, our ranger, has been killing unicorns. Why she has been doing this when to my knowledge they have been peaceful to us I have no idea.

15th Granite
An elven caravan has arrived. I’ll have to see what they have to sell though from what I’ve heard its never much.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
And there is my first update. To be honest besides what I have said I don't really know what I should do. The army has a rather sad amount of armor. I feel that bridges should be built so that we can seal things up in the event of an ambush or seige so as to possibly seal some badies in and keep most out. Heck where the hell are the wagons coming from?

19th Granite
Both elven traders barly got in before an ambush was spotted, more later.

20th Granite
All told about 4 dogs lie dead. Two ambushes spotted. All six cage traps were engaged along with many of the stone traps. This highlights the lack of real preparation in protecting the fort, fortress guard and other military aside. Had there been any more goblins we would have been in trouble. Cleanup begins and I’ve ordered Zefon to trade. See moped around a bit but went after I stood there watching her till she went.

21st Granite
We traded many crafts away for a few cages, barrels (with or without booze), and a bin of cloth. I honestly hope they bring us better things next year because they were shaking in their boots at such a close call with the goblins. I’m hoping that we can get the majority of the mess cleaned up before they leave, not that I don’t enjoy the sight of those tree huggers turning green. I just have a feeling that there are more goblins out there waiting to cause trouble nearby.

22nd Granite
I’ve ordered that work on the death chamber be continued. Due to lack of weapons, those that aren’t steel are needed for frontline traps, we are going to have to stick to stone fall traps to kill them. Hopefully I can replace them in the near future.

1st Slate
Kogsak Bermeng the Dungeon Master has arrived amide a flock of immigrants. About 17 immigrants total have come. I suspect that we are going to have some housing problems.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heh funny how after the first post I get ambushed. Thankfully noone was outside at the time but like I said we were nearly breached. I'm not sure what to do with the majority of the immigrants either. Only about 5-6 are accually useful and I'm thinking about turning the rest into military.
Doesn't look like I'll beable to finish tonight either. Apparently I've never paid attention how long things took whenever I'd play. I'll make sure to have it done by/on sunday though, that I will promise.
edit: where the hell do the wagons come from?

Two possible answers depending on how you ask that. 1) From other civs. 2)Wherever is most accessible to the depot.

Also, those ambushes are going to destroy my Master Plan.... Hmmmm...

Well I ment that I can't figure out where the wagons are coming from (edge of the map). I'm not sure they can reach the depot.

You guys don't seem to get it do you? I meant, asking the people who have been playing, which way have the wagons come for them? I can't seem to find the route myself (yes I was using shift d). Anyway summer just began.

5th Slate
Seeing as how most of our gems are uncut, I ordered that a few of each to be cut. I’ve also ordered new rooms to be dug out for our new residents. I’m currently making plans for The entryway ceiling to be replaced. 9 of the immigrants are now recruits since we didn’t really need them. Once I get them somewhat outfitted I’ll transfer them into the guard and get some of the more experienced guys out into the normal military.

12th Slate
Work on the new rooms go well. Order more booze brewed since I noticed it was getting low for a fort of our size. Zefon recently came to talk to me…
Zefon finds me in the carpender shop working away at some cages before working on beds.
“Hello Userpay, I’ve come to talk to you about my mandate about fine pewter items that hasn’t been fulfilled.”
“Fine pewter?” I say questionly as I shave away at the wood. “I was never told about this.”
“Well suffice to say the deadline is soon.”
“Wait a minute, I haven’t seen any fine pewter avalible around here. We don’t even have any we can melt down!”
“Regardless I expect it filled. Goodbye” And walked away. I grumble a bit before launching myself back into the cages.
19th Slate
Those elves finally left. They crept through the entry hall as if they were scared they were going to get attacked. The death room has been finished so some cages are being installed and a lever built outside. Work to make armor for the military is about to continue.

25th Slate
Just switched out the fortress guard with raw recruits, makes more sense for the experienced people to be under my command. The nobles don’t seem to have noticed or they don’t care, they shouldn’t complain anyway they have more than before.

27th Slate
The mandate ran out and Kosoth a metalsmith was sentenced to 26 days in the prison, at least it wasn’t someone unrelated to the job. Kadol is also throwing a party at the zoo, I’m not sure if this is related to the prison sentence. In other news the death chamber works and goblin prisoners are being put through as I write. Their weapons will go to arming weapon traps.

2nd Felsite
Had to assign someone to brewing as EvilCheerio wasn’t getting around to it. I also ordered some tombs to be dug out since the dungeon master wanted one so I figured I’d make a few for important people.

5th Felsite
Zefon has mandated that 3 cloaks be made. Why I have no idea but at least its something easy to fulfill this time.

20th Felsite
Those cloaks are made and Zefon is happy, I just hope she isn’t plotting the next mandate. I’ve designated trees to be cut down to replenish our short lumber supply.

1st Hematite
Ah it is summer now and I’m hard at work logging the trees we need for barrels and bins. I added some more trees to the quota to make sure the wagons have room to come in. Apparently someone has organized a party to celibrate the coming of summer but I feel that we need to keep working or we may get interrupted by ambushes.

6th Hematite
Work has begun on more defenses, the leading being a tower over our well and walling said well off  from where the goblins can get it. Also more weapon traps are being put into place.

11th Hematite
Going back and forth during my work outside I’ve knowticed signs of cave adaptation in my fellow dwarves. Unfortunately I cannot do much about it right now or at least it will have to wait till after the human caravan, and the ambushes that always seem follow them, are through. Also the logging operation is just about done, all that has to be done is the logs need to be hauled back. That also means I can go back to work on those bins, maybe I’ll make a few wooden weapons for the traps to.
