You use custom moves?

Hehe, I would kick your ass...

Is it Abandonware yet?  And don't tell me Abandonware never happens.  It may be true, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to you.

Abandonware is a judgment call.  Can Interplay currently afford to pursue pirates?

Darklands.

Darklands, Darklands, Darklands.

The English version has better sound, but the German version is slightly easier (a good thing given the game is quite difficult at first) and has a more authentic feel to it, so if you can read and write German I'd go for that one.

You can get it on any Abandonware site.

But there are so many . . . .

Angband, Space Empires (any), Alpha Centauri, Master of Orion, X-Com (any), Worms, Doom II, The Settlers (Serf City), Lemmings, Hexen, Ultima, The Incredible Machine, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, Gunship 2000, Space Quest. I'll stop there before we disappear in the depths of time or someone says zork.

Angband is awesome and should be played. It separates the men from the boys.

Sorry to go sort of off topic but does anyone have the Die by the Sword expansion?  Limb from Limb?  I never heard about it until I couldn't find it anywhere anymore.

I began acquiring it a few hours ago, I had it a long time ago (it managed to vaporize after a couple years of idleness, happens to me with alot of games) so it's not like it really counts as piracy. If you're that desperate, pm me.

I should totally play Darklands again. I really liked that game. Or Star Trail, it was grand.

I looked up Transarctica and came across this screenshot.

I'm sold.

Die by the Sword crashed on my PC even back when it was new. But some years later, another game came along, which didn't have the manual sword control, but otherwise was quite alike: Severance: The Blade of Darkness. If you like close combat with sharp weapons, this game is a must!
Another cool game that only few have played is Omikron: The Nomad Soul (sometimes without the Omikron in the title). This game is mainly an action-adventure, but it literally pulls you into the game.
When you say you played most games since 1995, then you have probably played these, if not, shame on you and go grab them:
- Outcast
- Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
- Total Annihilation
- Aliens versus Predator
- Summoner
- Conflict: Freespace
- Homeworld

Star Trail, much like Oregon Trail, was medieval... And I think dying of dysentery was a possibility. I've had lots of character die from miscellaneous sicknesses.

Blade of Darkness was pretty good.  Not very similar to Die by the Sword though.  They were both medieval fantasy third person action games but otherwise there wasn't much in common.
