Restrained Kittens as Snake Defence?
« on: August 06, 2008, 10:48:36 pm »

If I rope a few kittens around a magma vent will they eventually kill the fire snakes that wander near them or do they not hunt while restrained?  I already killed the four imps so that's not a problem.  Is it safe to use wooden animal traps if that doesn't work?

Dump the kittens into the magma vent to appease the magma gods and you wont have to worry about the snakes. If that doesnt work though you may have to try virgins and babies.

Dude, just move some excess booze over there. Problem solved, booze bomb may very well kill the snakes....or make things worse. But, kittens should work fine.

You sick bastard!  What is wrong with you!?

Don't sacrifice the virgins. Use them to make more babies. Then you have an unlimited supply of sacrifices!

Wait, why are we worried about fire snakes?

In my experience wooden traps work just fine.

A virgin gets you 500 sacrifice points. Babies net you 25 because not even the almighty magma god wants babies to deal with.

If you collect 10,000 sacrifice points, you get a free subscription to Dwarvette Daily.

Ah, but Babies are also virgins (Hopefully... eugh...)  So they're actually worth 525 points!  Thus saving the grown up virgins for useful tasks, since all babies can do is eat, sleep, crap, and be cute.

That's a good observation. But try telling the scary creditors banging on my door that actually this watch is an antique waiting to happen and thus, is actually worth $20,000.

I don't know about all that, but I know babies are tastier than the full grown counterpart.

I wonder if there's a way to mod babies to be butcherable without making regular dwarves butcherable as well.

Remember not to store your virgin sacrifices all in one place or they'll "spoil."

The difference between babies and grown-up virgins is that you expect the babies to be virgins. The grown-up virgins represent an opportunity and so have added value.

In addition, you spent how much money and food raising that virgin? The gods aren't much appeased by you tossing in surplus babies, but a virginal adult? That's commitment.

It is kinda off the rails isn't it?

Back on topic: I've never had an issue with Fire Snakes. I keep my booze far enough away.
