So apparently children can be taken by fey moods...

No useful skills to train with either, damn...A legendary child weaponsmith would've been amusing...and largely useless ;p

Can a child be taken by a fell mood?

Because if so, some kids really need counseling.

The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

If the child can be taken by a good mood (I have seen fey and I think possession firsthand), I don't see why they couldn't be taken by a fell mood if they were unhappy enough.

Also, the child actually does become legendary in the relevant skill once they make the artifact, the skill bonus just doesn't become apparent until they're adults.

I'm glad all the DF players are not living in one district. It'd be the most dangerous district for the whole world.
Actually, it'd be the most dangerous district in hundreds of thousands of worlds, starting with 'Xah Rabin' The Dimension of Omen.

My current fort has had 4 or 5 children go into moods, probably a byproduct of the rather large number of children (about 100) in that fort.

Most were fey or secretive but one was a posession.

Good god, a hundred children? How many adults? And what kind of supercomputer are you using?

Child goes into Fell mood and murders his or her parent.

Children go into Emo mood and murder themselves.

My first legendary was a kid and managed to make an amulet that caused much flooding of immigrants in the fort...

Thank god you can use cage traps on them nowadays.

I've had four children get moods in my current fort, and they all became legendary bone carvers.  I started getting creeped out around the third time it happened.  Apparently the children of my fort are obsessed with bones...

I've had a child do a fell mood and axe someone.  He made a dwarf leather skirt.  I believe it probably menaced with spikes of dwarf leather, but it's been a while.
