[suggest] See creatures 1 level down in empty space
« on: August 05, 2008, 10:58:14 am »

On maps with complex z terrain, it is especially hard to find creatures.  It would not solve, but would help a lot if there is some way of indicating a creature exists 1 z-level below an empty tile.  Sort of like how trees 1 z-level below are indicated in empty squares.  It can be some generic ascii character (creature type unknown, just indicate existence of creatures,  and have to go 1 z level below to see actual type) or some filtering of actual creature tile (e.g. a dither mask applied to actual creature tile to differentiate a creature on this level and a creature 1 z level below in an empty space tile)

In the future, may need some way of indicating things more than 1 z level below when presentation arc gets fleshed, but even 1 level is great now, if it can be easily done (like the trees being handled now)
