All texteditors should be able to save txt.

i would be suprised if your machine (if windows) doesn't have notepad.

otherwise if you have no other means (on windows) open run, enter cmd press ok. writes cd\ (this will put you in the root)
write edit new_creature.txt and you will enter a dos style text editor just write and save.

Ps. try double clicking on a txt file, it would probably open in a editor that can save the data as well. :P

would still be quite suprised if they not have a native text editor or that the default text editor can't be made to save to .txt since it's esantialy just the chars with now formating.

you can't open .txt?

You dont need new files - just put your creatures in the older ones - sloppy but it works.

I'd just do a google search for mac text editors.

In fact, a quick search for "mac text editor" brought up this page, with links and descriptions: http://mac360.com/index.php/mac360/comments/faceoff_which_is_the_best_text_editor_ever/

Have fun modding!

Yes, you can. .txt is just an ending. Just rename whatever file you make to xxx.txt. I'm pretty sure TextEdit has options in it's preferences menu that let you automatically save as .txt(I'm actually pretty sure that's the default behavior).

where's the face palm emoticon?

mac's can't create new .txt files? that's ludicrous.

It's a little weird to have to make special steps, but go to Format and choose "Make Plain Text <SHIFT-APPLE-T>" and you'll be able to save in a bunch of different encodings of just plain text :D

Mac's are so easy to use in so many ways... but some things are just crazy silly like this :P
