Manifold-1 is still alive. I'll sing RavingManiac up for the next gunbot. The melee-to-ranged ratio is becoming a bit too high for my tastes. We need more competent gunners.

Oh, and I'm thinking of allowing cloaks for robots. If it's good enough for Erasmus, it's good enough for Gamma.

In that case, I request a gunbot, designation T-101, with the mission of terminating all organics who might one day pose a threat. You can designate him as a hunter-killer or patrolling defense as you see fit. Just give him a .45 with a long slide and laser sight, and a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

Or I suppose a railgun will do.

20th Malachite, Midsummer of 216
Overlord's log

Finally, an integral part of the surface defences is almost ready! The channel I had Jonathan dig is slowly but surely filling with fresh lava. At some point in the future we will be setting up a defensive wall on this side to protect from ranged attackers. The few goblins we've caught proves that they are at least partially active in the area. Once the situation escalates - and it will - we will be firmly entrenched here. Even if they bring siege weapons they cannot cross a ditch filled to the brim with molten rock.

I'm slightly worried about some of the new additions to the gunnery squad. They've trained extensively since the last update, but more than a few insist on communicating in code. Fine. If something catastrophic happens because they can't express themselves clearly, I know who to send to the crusher.
Speaking of which, I've recently added a sturdy iron door to the chamber, in case of needed repairs. During installation they had to move the lever, which disabled the crushing mechanism. Darkbot had to remove the wall block by block to get access. The door is to be made nearly unbreakable and fitted with locking mechanisms on the outside only. How many Overlords have, after all, been foiled by rogues escaping from execution chambers?

The Dungeon Master has proved to be not completely useless after all. He's been busy working in the foundry, smelting ore. I hope the rest of the 'inspectors' the Council sends will be as useful. I fear not. I'll have to invent some way of getting rid of the useless ones...

On the contrary, you have three children. One of them is the fortress clerk, U.R.I.S.T.

That suggests that there's *something* going on, but nothing anyone is telling you about... ;-P

I apologize for the lack of updates, but I haven't gotten around to playing Steelgripped in the past few days. It'll be a while before goblins arrive, but I assume they will eventually start sieging since we've already caught a few snatchers. Expect much blood and glory once that happens.
