...Making it so that the battle will go on until a substanal percentage of one side is killed will make battles seem buch more realistic...
As a side note, historically that was the rule rather than the exception: armies would clash, and after a small number of casuallties it was usually clear who had the upper hand.. if the losing side were peasants, they would run for their lives; if they were elite troops with expensive training and equipment, the commander would sound the retreat himself.
Meatgrinder-style combat was more something for WW1.

Absolutely nothing against the option, though. Undoubtly some situations/cultures/races will require the participants to fight themselves to death.

Yeah, zerglings don't cost much so you can afford to send them to die. Wait, wrong game. I mean elves. Elves don't cost much. Yeah.

Before elves were pansies that tell you tou to limit the amount of trees you are cutting, but don't do anything stop you.

Now they are pansies that enlist all their peasants into the military and attack in mass numbers but retreat when they lose five recruits.

I am just wondering why Toady gave damblock -1 to the Elves btw... ??? So what next? 2 versions later elves will take damage just by walking around innocently!?  ;D
