Is that... full of water?

Huh.

Probably related to the glacier melting but, but cool nonetheless. It's a pity you couldn't possibly explore it. =(

were there a lot of "X has frozen to death" messages when you showed up?  I went to a cave in the winter and was immediately greeted by a named alligator freezing to death, presumably in a pond or river.

actually it wasn't completely filled with water, the first level had about 3/3 and the second was higher and i couldn't get to the third, i presume that because it was daytime the glacier in which it was embedded started to melt, and during the night it re-freezes.  the cyclops i was sent to kill was smart enough to be found outside!

I'm tempted to say that should go in bug reports, but if this is wrong, I'm not sure what the correct behavior would be. Maybe place the cave mouth a z-level higher than the surrounding terrain, so it's not flooded...?

Anyway, nifty.

This isn't a bug: in fact, it's perfectly realistic. Caves in a high ice area will fill with water.

I suppose it's irritating that your quest monster would run in there and drown himself. But I guess that makes sense too if you're a legendary Vomiteer hunting him and he knows it.

That's awesome. I'd like to see you build a fort there.

The water would probably promptly freeze and kill all the occupants, since adventure mode and fortress mode handle temperatures a bit differently.

And one in that one's bathroom!

Probably a forest retreat.  Which is much less interesting than a Starbucks.

I like to think there's a little Starbucks inside of all of us.
