Ok, I know this bug doesn't matter a damn but I figured I'd go ahead and post it.  Flies and Acorn Flies and probably every other kind of vermin can survive in magma.  This imp corpse is floating three levels deep.




Also: A cat killed it, and five other imps.  One cat died of suffocation, assuming an internal injury, but the other one is still fine, walking around covered in goo.

I mean, vermin I can handle, since they can teleport and all, but what's a cat doing taking on magma fiends?

Yeah, the vermin thing I just thought was weird, and posted it because hey, I hadn't seen it and frankly the bug list is so long that it's hard to read through.

The cat thing was just an aside.  I found it strange too; i had no military but all these imp corpses.  My cats were just happily slaughtering away.

Imps are really small, same size as cats. Imps have humanoid bodies so they waste melee moves trying to wrestle instead of using their much better burning bite attack, while cats just have their bite. Thus the cats rip right though the imps.

Yeah, imps are pretty weak in melee. Even a 0 skill peasant can wrestle them to death.

The only danger imps pose is their fire breath. If they happen to get that off it can kill your dwarf/cat/whatever in one shot - I had an imp come out of the pipe and wander way across the map and pop my woodcutter in the chest with it. The poor woodcutter had 2 red lungs - he died in a few seconds.
