Soap constructions
« on: July 31, 2008, 10:30:28 pm »

I've found that soap is a very good building material, especially in the wooded areas without access to stone. Imported lye tends to come in sets of 10, and animals have multiple units of fat, convertable to tallow. It is very valuable, almost as valuable as steel. When one has the right creatures, the value can be absolutely outrageous.

I've noticed that soap is awfully heavy, seeing that the requisite tallow and lye are both extremely light. Is this a bug?

I was also wondering if anyone else likes to build with soap.

I can only imagine what the dwarves look like when they walk upon soap floors on a rainy day.

You may very well be the first person ever to make soap. All I've ever heard of anybody doing with soapers is conscripting them into goblin bait the military.

Interesting idea, though. I may have to try that...

Nothing that scrubs away that hard day's suffering with a bit of dragon tallow soap. Seriously though, I wish soap had a real use. Like I could scrub my roads with soap and watch invading goblins (and traders) slip around.

Lol.  :D Thats one use I would have never thought of. But now you've got me down that track, how about dumping soap in the dining room waterfall reservoir -> Foam party in the dining room!  ;D

What you is create a device that floods invading goblins and pushes them into a gaint pit of soap.  Then poceed to drop blocks of soap into the pit with them to wash away the dirt.

Or mix it sodium nitrite and some glycerin and a touch of sawdust and you get TNT.

Wow I would love to throw soap in the moat.
That way, if the suds touch the enemys open wounds it will hurt more.
Not only that it will keep that nasty goblin corpse stench out of the moat.

Soap is the ultimate middle finger to elves. Burn a tree to get the ash for the lye, then murder an animal to get the fat for the tallow. I would imagine Unicorn Tallow soap would make elves cry blood.
