Let see the elves get you now when you have your almighty soap-a-pult.

I was telling a friend about DF, and got him interested with soap constructions.  He came up with a defense plan that I didn't have the heart to tell him (or me) wouldn't work.  Still hilarious though.

1) Build normal fort inside a hill.
2) Build castle of soap on top of hill.
3) Dig moat around bottom of hill.
4) When enemies attack, pump water onto top of hill, melting soap and letting it roll down the sides.
5) Enemies wash away in avalanche of soap suds, then concreted into moat.
6) Build new soap castle.
7) Lather, Rinse, Repeat

I really really wish that would work though.

Soap is the ultimate middle finger to elves. Burn a tree to get the ash for the lye, then murder an animal to get the fat for the tallow. I would imagine Unicorn Tallow soap would make elves cry blood.

Now if there were just some way to collect that elven tear-blood, brew it into elven tear-blood wine, and store it in wineskins made from angel leather. I'm sure someone would go and build a fort that was dedicated to the production and export of this fine product. :)

Urist McWorker has been ecstatic recently. Urist McWorker witnessed death recently. Urist McWorker was disgusted by miasma. Urist McWorker has been exhausted lately. Urist McWorker was upset about being expelled from the Royal Guard. Urist McWorker has been evicted lately.  Urist McWorker has been attacked by the dead lately. Urist McWorker has tasted the red tears of elves recently. Urist McWorker has recently asked how to acquire more of the blood-tears of elves.

HeheheheheHAHAHAHA!

Oh, after making an aquifier fort with imported gold, bronze, and melted weapons, NOW someone tells me that you can make buildings from soap.

Hmm... what happens to forts made out of soap when it rains? Do they melt?

another problem with a soap castle is Kobolds and Goblins would never siege it,  They hate Clean and just seeing a block of soap whould make them puke thus how i protect my artifacts.

Kobold 1: ooo Gold
Kolbold 2: that floor looks werid.
Kobold 1: its....SOAP
*kolbolds run away from soap and get spotted by Kittens*
*one generic theif message from the kitty later*
Urist McHammerTime: Hmm 2 kolbolds throw them into the moat
*Kolbolds breathe a sigh of relief*
*Urist McHammerTime smacks both kolbolds into the moat with Soap Walls with his hammer and watches them melt*
Urist Mc HammerTime: Works just like magma hehe. *goes to get another Ale*

Dwarves hate it at least as much. Only the humans would be able to tolerate the stuff.

The trick is to use misdirection. For instance, I have built an indoor waterfall leading to the dining room, but all the grates are made of soap. The dwarves walk through the watefall and say "Oooh, what pretty mist!" and don't realise they have just become clean! ;D

Lol, I'd love to make floors of soap to trip any invaders. And dwarves ;)

Soap has all sorts of interesting uses that should really be implemented.

I've got to try the waterfall-through-soap-grates thing.  It's like a primitive communal shower. :P

I'm glad all the DF players are not living in one district. It'd be the most dangerous district for the whole world.
Actually, it'd be the most dangerous district in hundreds of thousands of worlds, starting with 'Xah Rabin' The Dimension of Omen.
