The reason I posted this is because I really want to play Berserker a game being made by THD
and they need a C/C++ programmer to help make it.

So let me get this straight...you want other people to help make a game that you want to play?

I can imagine the level design and playable characters:

1: Jesus's crucifixion (RTS romans vs. christians)
2: Westboro Baptist Church (william zantzinger)
3: Stonewall Inn, NY (FPS police with squadmates)
4: Berlin comedy club in 1940 (rhythm game playing an anti-semitic comedian)
5: NYC (commercial flight sim)
6: Blacksburg, Virginia (seung-hui cho, FPS)
7: Lorraine Motel. Memphis, Tennesee (james earl ray, first person sneaker)

Don't forget the Ruby Ridge Squad-based stealth shooter.

Sure.  Why the hell do people find this shit so fascinating?  It's a mystery isn't it?  I think you probably failed to sense sarcasm in this case though.

From one of the interviews, it sounds like they are making this game to protest the weird Australian ratings and whatnot. A worthy cause, but I don't think they really need to go all-out offensive to do this. At least some of it is "HEY WE'RE EDGY GUYS".

And if you're right about the last part, they're laying it on pretty damn thick on that about page. It sounds like pretty genuine "GAMES = ART" stupidity.

I don't see anything particularly artistic about this game, but if you're saying that no game can be art I'd like to know what you think constitutes art.

Don't forget the Ruby Ridge Squad-based stealth shooter.

Or the 1960's Montgomery Alabama fireman simulator/rail shooter.

8: Mustang Ranch, Texas (jack the ripper)

I think we could invent the most horrible game ever. It would be so bad it would make people cry even if they've never heard of it.

We could just make a rougelike with battle descriptions by Umiman. Anyone who has read his description of the Corkscrew trap ripping a person to shreds would agree.

That was a big TLDR for me.  I got a few sentences into it and felt too embarrassed for him to continue reading.

Oh, Fort Harrison Hotel.  Probably a Warioware-style game involving the WiiMote.  Dunk people in hot water, bite people with roaches, and then convince the jury you're not a dangerous cult.

http://hcsoftware.sourceforge.net/passage/ <- That game is art.

Other games, I dunno, but it's pretty safe to say that nothing that these guys have made is art. And now I'm getting the hell out of this thread before this turns into a "GAMES = ART Y/N?" debate.

I'm wary of declaring anything at all art, let alone games, because no one seems to be able to provide a definition of what art actually is.  From what I've seen, people seem to take games that look nice, but have no practical value, gameplay, or storyline, and declare them art?  Is that art?  The absence of value?

But really, what makes the Mona Lisa art when modern art isn't?  And what makes that growing vine game art when Halo isn't art?  They're both stupid, and they both have nice visuals, although Halo 3 is like bloom city.  I'm on a bus to There'sNoSuchThingAsArtVille, no round trip, and the bus is going about 80.
