[39d] Missing Bottomless Pits?

So in attempt to get a video of The Shortest Fortress Ever (nano fort + embark anywhere + magma ontop of pit bug) I've managed to find pits on the embark screen, embark, and not find a pit.

Bottomless pits are often buried beneath the earth, and as such require some mining to find. I'm not certain about the exact circumstances of the magma/pit bug, but the people who got it were lucky enough to find some of the rare few pits exposed to open air.
