[39e] Insanely fast (dwarven) caravans
« on: July 30, 2008, 09:45:05 am »

I'll describe it shortly, I'm currently located inside a mountain where a brook is flowing trough, which is ideal to defend for me.

Now I had a temporary trade depot set up outside right next to the brook, and the 2nd dwarven caravan that arrived, arrived right next to the brook, so they immediately started travelling on the brook. However...

I was like :o when I saw the caravan FLASH instantly to the depot, you could see him for 2/3 frames on the screen, going trough the brook to the depot. He arrived in like a second at the depot. I was trying to get a save/demo out of it, but the third wagon that entered the brook didn't mysteriously warp away and just proceeded normally trough the brook.

I hope I explained it correctly.

I'd like to add two small things irrelevant to this: I'm seriously bugged by dwarves who have to use the specific west tile of whatever their digging destination is, and it causes a lot of times where a dwarf gets stuck in a certain part because they just WANT to dig from that way, instead of choosing the safe way, they decide to fall down with the collapsing.

This is why we build supports and collapse things with levers. From a safe distance. When you're good and ready. And the nobles are underneath.

On a somewhat related note, one time i finished talking with the outpost liason, and then FWOOOSH he was gone. But then he had crazy agility from woldgen.

I had something of the same deal, I noticed my dwarven liason was virtually dogging the heels of my broker, looked, and he was ultra-mighty, perfectly agile, and very tough.

It's like you're all trying to outdo each other in sheer useless pedantry.
