[39e]Really fast dwarves
« on: July 29, 2008, 09:31:59 pm »

Not sure if this is a bug, might just be a faster computer, but I just started a brand new game on a new computer with a slightly modded version of DF, but no changes to Dwarf speed, just adding some trainables.

My dwarves are moving fast. Really fast. In fact, the game speed seems upped by a lot. once again, this could just be a faster computer, but I doubt it.

I can get a save if needed.

You probably got used to a lower FPS. At 100 FPS, the default speed, the game runs quite quickly. However 100 FPS is difficult to maintain on large maps or with very large forts unless you turn off temperature and weather or have a very beefy machine.

Go into the init options and turn on the FPS counter.

An average, unencumbered peasant take one step every 10 frames, therefore if you, say play at 150 fps, that's 5 more steps a second than on 100.

Be happy, the greater FPS is a blessing, but if you find it annoying you can cap the FPS in the init file to a lower number.

Wait.. that means if I'm at full speed, he'll take TEN STEPS A SECOND?

Ok. THats what I thought, but I wasn't sure.

Cool ^_^
I <3 this new machine, then.

Its literally around 5 times faster on DF, and I've NEVER had lag.
