Adventurer bling?
« on: July 29, 2008, 05:19:22 pm »

I'd never noticed this before, so please excuse me if it isn't new information :)

I went on a killing spree with my adventurer.  The total death count was something like 20 goblins and 60 humans.  Anyway, I retired him as a peasant for a while so I could try other things.  When I started playing him again, I looked at his inventory and noticed that he's now wearing jewelry!

In fact, he's wearing LOTS of jewely.  About six PAGES of it: human bone crowns, human bone bracelets, goblin bone earings, etc...  He probably looks like some sort of twisted witch-doctor.

Am I correct in assuming that these are supposed to be "trophies" from his previous kills?  I never explicitly picked up this kind of stuff before.

Yeah, that only happens once from what I've found. Your best chance is to travel around the wilderness for a couple months and destroy whatever you can, then retire and unretire, then sell your trophies. for some swords!!! YAY!!!

After that, though, you don't get new trophies. I think.

Goal: Kill everyone in the world but leave one town.

Retire and unretire.

Collapse under the weight of trophies.

Isn't there an upper-limit on jewelry though? I've gotten to the point where I needed to take off a crappy deer leather amulet in order to put on a crappy fish-bone amulet. 'Though this was back when gobs were hostile and you didn't feel bad about stealing their bling.

Thats when YOU put on the stuff. The game doesn't really care about limits when it kits you out.

Carefully. Very carefully. One slip and it's all over for his hopes of starting a family.

I don't think those are tropies, more like the accumulated wealth from being a peasant.

I often use the "play now!" option, for fun and variety.  With this mode, you start out with a naked unarmed human, with no skills.

Now, if I settle this human in a human town (not certain it works with other settlements), play another adventurer or fortress, then come back, I find the previously naked human has clothes on, and some bling.  Without killing anyone.  Very cool, thought the bling usually isn't enough to buy a weapon.  :(

Whoops! My +goblin bone bracelet+ got caught on my -deer leather amulet- and the zipper of my =pig tail trousers=, which for some reason is attached to a +turtle shell ring+ and my *giant cave spider silk thong*, which is hooked on... etc.

No, no! Those are Quantum Ammunition Slots!!! Imagine three hundred rings fitting on one finger! If the character points the finger at the enemy, then one of the rings will be released, and, pushed by the great force of quantum expansion, will propel itself towards the enemy at a speed in excess of Mach 4!

Heh. I don't think it'd work as well with earrings though... :P

The wearing 300 rings or the launching? Either way, if you can carry an entire arsenal on your left pinky finger, it probably means you're a man to be feared. :)

 Idea:

When limbs are chopped off, they go flying.

When limbs get chopped off, every item attached is released.

Adventurers get bling stacked when retired.

 Thus:

Chopping off the hand of a particularly rich goblin will result in a grenade-type effect on any living creature unfortunate to be near the limb when it lands. Or a shower of crap as well as blood.
