[39e] Incomprehensible demand
« on: July 29, 2008, 07:07:18 am »

My hammerer recently came up with this demand:

I've already given up on the hope of keeping him from murdering someone, but I thought I should report it anyway. :P

Dump his hammer, now he will go around trying to deal out the law with fisticuffs.

As far as the vagueness of his request is: just search his profile for something he likes (e.g Urist likes bronze) and chuck a <insert like> item (like an armour stand or something) in his dining room and see if the mandate goes away.

Maybe it's a feature, if he cap the "item".

Urist McHammertime: "I want something in my room."
Urist McMayor: "What do you want?"
Urist McHammertime: "Something, you figure it out."
Urist McMayor: "Alright, I'll get you a wishing lever, you pull it, you get a wish."

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

So that is the Demand version of the dreaded "Large"?

Check his thoughts.  Does he have a preference for a weird (nonexistent) material like coral, horn, or amber?

Tear off his arms, and he'll bite offenders instead.

That's dedication for you.

Old bug. Funny scenario in Nist Akath if I remember correct.

As you journey to the center of the world, feel free to read the death announcements of those dwarves that suffer your neglect.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

Demands, unlike mandates, are not required to be carried out under threat of punishment anyway.  If you don't satisfy the demand, the dwarf in question will just get an unhappy thought.

You should give him a Large and see if he accepts it.

Yeah, known bug. The demand will go away sooner or later. In the mean time just keep em' happy.
