DF crafts in real life
« on: July 27, 2008, 11:01:10 pm »

I got a =Birch Puzzle Box= for my birthday! If you are curious what these are, they aren't like Rubix Cubes, but literal boxes that have a set of hidden slides or catches. By moving these in the correct pattern, the box can be opened. Mine looks a lot like this:

They seem to be a rather dwarven craft.

Hmm, I see no obvious cut marks and none of the pieces line up at the edges...

How DO you open it?  ???

Looks nice though.

If you hit it hard enough it should open.

O.o? I have some puzzle boxes, a metal puzzle sphere, and a shaped glass puzzle box... it took me a week and a half to solve my first one =P

the more advanced ones are impossible to solve...

I cheated, used the instruction sheet. No electrum coins. But I've been playing with it and I've gotten it figured out to the point where I can open and close it in a few minutes now. The picture isn't my exact box; I have a 27-move one. But the lamination on the surface is very similar.

I still can't figure out what to put inside, though. I'm thinking something like my soul, then going on to conquer the world with evil brilliance until someone finds the box and solves the riddle, returning my soul and causing me to leap off my obsidian tower with grief. Or tea, it's a great place to store tea.

That would be a great place to hide drugs...

In unrelated news, I'm currently surfing from behind a proxy, and it does not take 10 minutes to load a page. I think this server just hates the area I live in, or something.

I totally support this idea.

Me too. Can I play the riddle solver (if I manage to...) ? Or one of your minions ?
