Trade for Sand?

Is it possible to import sand for a fortress in an area void of sand?

You can however edit the raws. Add in the [SAND] flag in the soil file. Notice how the various types of sand soils have the [SAND] flag. Just copy it to other types of soil and you can use them as sand sources as well. However, do not do this with the aquatic soil types, as it causes interesting mayhem on world generation.
