38c to 39e, Side effects?

I've been thinking of updating my current fortress into 39e for the ability to more easily build constructions. Anyone know if there are any side effects in doing so?

That is to say, I have a world generated in 38c and I'm thinking of just keeping the saved game and plugging it into 39e. I'd like to try out the new stuff but I'm not ready to give up this fortress yet.

I've done this from 38c to 39c and no problems - later today I'll probably move the saves on to 39e once I get it unpacked. I don't think it should cause any bad effects, just make sure you COPY the original save folder and don't CUT it...just in case!

I use a single DF folder, and just overwrite old versions with new versions.  I've got a 38a fort running in 39e right now, working just fine (Asshigos, Cavepacks on the map archive.  yay new computer!)
