Ive tried playing the new version with and without mods and it does the same thing. World gen runs smoothly. and the map at the end of world gen runs smoothly.. but.. once I try to actually play the game, it lags terribly.

When looking at the world map in the legends, when I try to move the view over one tile, itll have a short delay, and move over 2 or 3 squares instead of one.

In dwarf fort mode, when I try to move the view in any direction it usually moves twice or three times instead of once. I dont have this problem when paused though.

Could this just be my computer..? (AMD sempron 2800+ 2.0ghz)
As I mentioned.. everything ran fine in earlier versions.

The only difference from vanilla is a tile set.

How early is earlier?

There are a few situations that still cause a lag, like having a river at the bottom of a steep map, but mostly things seem to be going faster for people.  Have you tried a lot of different locations?  How is a 2x2 flat map in the middle of a plain with no features?  Does the title screen run at max FPS?

39c runs perfectly.

Ive tried a few situations. Just did a flat plain and it ran decently. 60fps.. although it would still occasionally jerk and 'skip a tile'.

Title screen is max FPS, yes. Viewing the world map in legends, or the embark screen has alot of slowdown though.

I changed
[KEY_HOLD_MS:400]
from 150 to 400

That seems to have fixed the skipping problem. When in the embark view (or legends map view) it will still delay before actually moving to the next tile.

Everything seems to be happening at the normal rate in game, the FPS is still 60. Its only the 'camera' that appears to lag.

I am having this problem too.  Some parts of world generation are taking ridiculously long.  When I finally start the game a 6x6 map on a glacier with no features is lucky to get 5fps.  I tried d and c and had the same problem.

That's solved by the key MS thing in the innit, it's been around for a while (since v0.27!).

Tried that with E, D, and C.  Did not work in any case.  I got 7 FPS on a 2x2 featureless glacier with no wildlife.

Do you have VSYNC turned on or off? That can make a very big difference in terms of fps.

It was off.  I am pretty sure that is where you wanted it but I tried turning it on and it did not help.

I know you will kill me for not saying this before but I just reformated and the game ran fine before I did that.  There must be something I screwed up but I have no idea what it is.

Fixed.  I thought I had the latest drivers after reformating but I didn't.  My bad.
