Has anyone ever encountered one of these in adventure?

From what i've read, they're very rare- most people get legendary swimming before they manage to find one while swimming around evil oceans.

But apparently, they have been found before, so if you're willing to waste an hour or two searching for one, go ahead.

I should try embarking near an ocean some time and making a fish arena. Sea monster fights would be brutal.

Give your starting dwarfs some skill in swimming so they can join in!  ;D

Even better, make a chamber with about 4/7 or 5/7 water level and dump goblins into it. Let them mill around for a while so they can train their swimming skills.

Then re-cage them and pit them against the sea baddies. Or even better, just release the monsters into the swim training pit.

Thanks. For telling me. Maybe seeking one out wasn't the best idea.

Sea monsters should be megabeasts that rise out of the sea and attack coastal fortresses.

It would be cool once we get sea travel (boats, ships etc) nd sea caves and stuff to have sea serpents and sea monsters as semimegabeasts, and then some bigger nasties like krakens as megabeasts.

Imagine reading records of ships sunk by a sea serpent. Awesome.

Colossal Squids would be sweet too. Even though they are for real.
