Dwarves don't have feelings.  That whole Ecstatic, happy, quite content thing is just their way of screwing with you.  It's like a play.  They decide what they're going to do to piss you off while they're still at the mountainhomes.

What about humans and elves?

They're in on it too.  Why do you think children always manage to take down legendary adventurers?  Your own characters are conspiring against you.

Someone's had a bit too much fun I think.

http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Fun

Also, I now remember that one of my OTHER favorite tactics is one favored by many military forces in the roman era on both a tactical and strategic level.

Grab them by the throat and stab them in the vitals. :D

On a tactical level, that means grabbing their throat and hacking their head off or running them through. On a strategic level - which is unfortunately not implemented in DF yet - it means to pin an attacking force in place (grabbing them in the throat, coliqually) by engaging them with infantry and then flank them with cavalry, who will proceed to work with the infantry in stabbing them in the vitals. :D

I always try to get them to give into pain; then I gouge their eyes out, and leave them for dead.

Wow!  I didn't know throwing someone could even do damage.

You should make it [SWIM_SPEED:1000] or something, though.  Surely a little thing like being underwater wouldn't slow down the likes of that?

I'm fond of strangling people to death with my whips, or totaling their spine and watching them fall to the floor in their newly acquired state of quadriplegia.

Throwing people does a little damage. If your adventurer is really strong, you can actually get medium wounds, get them prone, and move them a few tiles.

Honestly, I consider any kill with a blunt weapon to be epic win material.  Mainly coz it's so easy to incapacitate with them, but actually killing...

Life is a very strange thing. It's very easy to knock someone unconcious, but not so easy to kill them. Beating someone to death is harder than it might sound. :P

Unless of course you know to go for a vital spot... which isn't in the game yet.

Weapon grab, head grab, gouge eyes, release.  Equip spear, equip shield, stab, repeat.

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

Crossbow bolts to the eye on champions, otherwise just a two-handed sword counterattack that sends opponents exploding against a wall.
