Finishing moves
« on: July 25, 2008, 04:55:26 am »

Do you have one?

I personally enjoy grabbing the heads of someone important, then slashing them with the final blow. Hard to get right, but sometimes the RNG plays along and I decapitate the guy.

Any of you enjoy doing something fancy to end important targets?

I pretty much always take blunt damage weapons.  I try to line up fights so that, if the target flies, they'll hit an object or fall off a cliff.  Doesn't play along much, but the falls are cool when they happen, and it's the only way to amass a head collection with a hammer.

Grab throat with weapon. Strangle x20. Engage new target.

I did that with my bow one time.  I ended up wrestling the goblin leader for like ten minutes before I died.

I usually like beating people to death with their own weapon. Its especially fun with archers. Of course, its even more fun to steal their quiver too, and shoot them to death.

Generally though, for finishing moves, I prefer to cut off some legs, then step back two or three paces and start spear throwing practice.

I tried the head-grab thing on a demon, for a bit of Force Commander/Bloodthirster action.  It didn't go as planned.

Heeheehee... don't take chances with things that breathe fire. Especially since now [DRAGONFIREBREATH] has been removed and replaced with regular old fireball. You know. The unblockable, instantkill fireball.

You mean why it was removed? No idea. I only found out when I couldn't play some of my goblins because there was no more [DRAGONFIREBREATH]. It was kinda redundant anyway though...

If you mean why it's unblockable. No idea either. It's always been unblockable. Probably a bug.

[DRAGONFIREBREATH] is still in the raws for dragon. Are you sure its removed?  it wasnt redundant, fireball is fireball dragonfire is fire breath!!

Also, we all like stabbing people with arrows or beating to death with a carp corpse :P

This.

After you knock them out you don't get any experience from whacking on them some more so I strangle them to death and increase my wrestling skill.

My goblins don't work when they have that tag and it's only that tag. It freezes worldgen.

So...  dunno?

I guess you can't give it to civ creatures?

I have a civilization of dragonfire breathers, and they seem to be working....

*Tests*  Yep, here's dragonfire exhaled by a wrestler/thrower I retired and recruited.

I wish morale was a factor in fights, because I'm certain that crushing someone's chest with their mayor's head and throwing them into their temple pool would be upsetting to the populace.

Dwarves don't have feelings.  That whole Ecstatic, happy, quite content thing is just their way of screwing with you.  It's like a play.  They decide what they're going to do to piss you off while they're still at the mountainhomes.
