DF WIKI DOWN

:(
Because it is, I have a question
How do I tell my dwarves to make things out of a specific material (bauxite floodgate and mechanism)

put stockpiles of those items next to the workshop where they are being produced. The craftsdwarf will choose the item closest to him to make it out of, so you'll probably need to have a few queued up to get what you need.

Now, is there an addon to the dwarf fort tweak that allows you to make magma tiles, and is there one that allows you to edit skills on dwarves?

Dwarf Companion allows this.

I don't know why it's down... it has been having some trouble of late, though.

I don't think anybody but Senso could tell us.

wow, I'd never thought that there would be a time at which the backup torrent makes sense....

I hope it comes back soon, I hate relying on bakc ups

here is a bookmarklet (a javascript link you put in your bookmarks) that retrieves the google cache for the page you are currently visiting.  you can click it all over broken wiki pages to see a recent cache of the good page in google.

code:
 javascript:void((function(){var a=location.href.replace(/^http%5C:%5C/%5C/(.*)$/,"$1");location.href="http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:"+escape(a);})())

details here

Glad to see you're still here. In my n00b days you have been quite helpful. Was wondering why I didn't see anymore 'check the wiki' posts (with a correct link, always)

At what point would a torrent backup not make sense?

It's arguably the most sensable way to backup. It's free, and once a few others get the file they can help host it as needed... things only proliferate more and more decentralized and free and available from there!   :D

Huh, I don't know what happened, I seemed to have been locked out from my hosting account without notice. The DF wiki is down but all my other websites are down too.

The hosting company (Apis Networks, which is goon-run) did not monitor my bandwitdh since I've had the account but recently, they started doing it. I have a 45GB/month limit and I busted it 10 days. I never thought the wiki would be so popular and so bandwitdh-hungry.

It's probably going to cost me MUCH more to keep it up now so I'm not sure what I can do. I'm talking with the hosting guys.

I'll keep you all updated as soon as I get more info. Sorry for the troubles.
