Oh boy, we're back in Westhaven.  Here we go.

Aq's next turm-

At the mention of modifing his truck, Aq jumps into action.  He's been waiting for an excuse to bung bars and grating all over the thing since seeing The Road Warrior, and starts rounding up carts, rebar, and anything else he can find to chop up and weld together.  Naturally, he's better with metal than wood, but rambunctious as always.  The flickering power gets him a bit nervous - he's been wondering how long the power would last, but since it's still on, he puts it out of mind.

If Jano needs to sleep, Aq will gladly let him, and see him off with lots of assurances and promises of diligence.  Then go back to grindwheeling metal with headphones on.

All in all, the plan should be to head out into the city soon (when the sun comes up, if it's not day yet).  If there's no way to close up the store from the outside we'll need to make something.

Found this thread though your forum sig.  It looks like the most awesome thing since diced bread, and if you're willing to take on one more hapless survivor I'd like to join.

Name: Nicholas
Age: 20
Physical description: Nicholas is above average hight, though he looks unimpressive otherwise.  Short brown hair and brown eyes do little to set him apart from the crowd, though he does sport a short goatee.  He usually wears jeans and a T-shirt, occasionally with a collared shirt over it.  Now, however, he sports the thickest carpenter jeans and the heaviest coat he owns, along with knee and elbow pads.  This is partly due to the weather and partly due to the zombie apocalypse thing.
Job: Nicholas is (was) a stage hand at a local theater.  Most of his work involved construction, though there was the odd mechanical job that needed doing, like automating a set.

Positive Descriptors: Strong, Skilled: Construction, Skilled: Melee (martial arts training - mostly hand-to-hand but a course on basic weapons as well).

Negative Descriptors: Inept: Electronics, Obnoxious (tends to think that he's the best of the best at what he's good at, and it takes some talking down to convince him otherwise) Weak Sense: Touch (heavily calloused due to construction work).

EQUIPMENT:

2-3 meals' worth of canned non-perishable food and an opener

A butane 'torch' lighter & butane fuel can, good for maybe 4 refills

Leatherman multi-tool... think Swiss Army Knife but with less tools and designed more for construction than ultimate survival
Basic construction tools - hammer, screwdriver, etc.

Also, I'd like to start in the residential area by the fire and police stations, if that's possible.

I know I'm jumping in way late here, so I'll try to keep it simple until the time frame catches up.  If you don't want to write an outcome for every single turn, you don't have to - I'm planning for them to be uneventful until Nick is forced out of his house. 

Basically, Nick buys a shotgun and a box of ammo when he hears of the human and animal attacks.  He's not particularly skilled with firearms, but he figures with a shotgun he doesn't have to be.  He's not buying into the "zombies" thing at this point, and figures he doesn't need more than a few rounds to scare off any attackers.

Once the human attacks start increasing in severity, he starts barricading his house.  The windows he boards up entirely, along with the basement and garage doors (he doesn't own a car anyway, the only thing of value down there are his tools).  He adds a few sheets of plywood to the front door, making it sturdier, and barricades it so that it can only be opened if he lifts away a wooden beam of not inconsiderable weight.

He stayed holed up in his house for a long while, watching the occasional news report and living on his (short) supply of canned foods.  It seemed increasingly probable that what they were saying was true, and there really *were* zombies out there...  Nick wished he'd bought more shells.

As the days went on, news reports were less and less frequent, finally ending altogether.  The only sign of outside life was a repeating radio message that survivors were being airlifted out of the garrison, and anyone hearing this should head there as soon as possible to be picked up.

Nick didn't go, at first.  He was confident his constructions would hold back every zombie in the city (even if they wouldn't) and didn't feel the particular need to go out and get himself killed, especially since he didn't own a vehicle.  But he hadn't accounted for his food supply, and finally the day came when he was down to his last few cans of spam.  He was reluctant to leave, especially considering the time he's spent on the fortifications, but it looked like he'd just have to make a go of it.

He gathered everything useful he could find in the house he'd be able to carry with him: what food and water he had left (he wasn't drinking from the tap, nobody knew how the disease spread yet), the few tools he could bring and use without power, a baseball bat to use against zombies he encountered (he'd had training in fighting, but he wasn't about to grapple with the rotting undead unless he had to), his lighter and multitool, and of course his shotgun.

Lifting the beam away from the door and opening it shotgun-first, he considered his potions briefly.  He was running low on supplies of all sorts, but he decided ammo was a priority, as he had so few shells.  He decided he'd head for the police station and see what he could do about stocking up, then hopefully get a squad car or bike and drive it to the garrison.

Summary: Get to the police station and load up on supplies (high).  He'll stop and help other survivors if he can, but his priority is to get supplies and get to the garrison.
How to do it: Quick and quiet.  He doesn't have a vehicle and he only has ten shells and a bat, no need to be gung-ho about it.

Dammit, just what I needed, a looney.  A looney under stable conditions could be held to his word, at least to some extent.  Under zombie outbreak conditions?  Hell no.

Well, if the old coot is going to be unpredictable, better do the same.


Hmm...  Not very many options...  Cranky Old Dude seems to be located in a sort of control room with a hack into the surveillance system.  Since such a room is not often a feature in police stations, I'd assume he's some sort of tech guy who tapped into the emergency response systems.  Probably somewhere in the basement.

Hrrmph...  I don't want to kill the kid and kill off the baby's dadda, but I don't want Herr Batshit to know that either.  Guhh, can't think...  It's really late. 

Try and get both of us some safety, then try to perforate Cranky Old Dude somehow.  Faking the death would be dangerous as he'd have to play dead around the un-dead, which is rarely effective.  Blurgh.  Gonna go to sleep now, see if I can think of anything better tomorrow.

Chance

Chance eats some of his food from his cooking pot and ties the lid to the pot with some thin rope he had found in the cabin and put on the head phones to his cd player and listened to some pavarotti. He looked around the cabin for keys but could'nt find any. He thought for a few minutes and came to a few conclusions. He could try to hot wire the boat but he has no idea how and dos'nt want to get elecricuted. He decides maby he should go to the garrison after all, he could force a pilot to take him out of the country then shoot him when they landed, every one would think Chance died back at the asylum. Chance decides to go check for survivors inside the bar. Chance was very scared of the zombies back in the asylum, but with a gun in his hand and an escape route behind his back he's as brave as a lion. Look inside the bar for survivors. If there are only 1 or 2 zombies try to kill them with his knives. If there are no survivors in there take the best bottle of liqour the bar has and get back to the boat and sleep. Do it all in a fearless way

Scott getting pissed off in the elevator starts yelling very angrily "fucking crazy people!" Scott needs to find a way out, his only choice is to go out the door and into the basement. Speaking to himself while he works "Fucking prick going crazy in a time like this. On top of that theres the girl, I have to help her somehow." Scott gets out of the elevator and starts making his way through the basement.

Yes you got down out of city hall and walked around the block to the police HQ, entered, and looked around up on the second floor. I think that's the one you missed. Then you got back into the elevator to look in B2 for the armory and had it snap.

Mulch: you're fine writing RP stuff, it definitely helps me figure out how you envision the character. This one is kind of fun.

Dreadfang: at the end of turn 7, you're at dusk. The end of turn 8 will be midnight. so if you nap for a turn, it's like getting half a nights' sleep, which kind of sucks. But it's your call.
