I know this is a stupid question, but...

Where do I put the saves I downloaded? I extracted the region.rar to data/save, but the "Continue playing" option is not there.

He already extracted it, that means he unzipped it.  Are the files from the region.rar in their own folder (ie. data/saves/region1), or are they in the data/saves folder?

Is there a world.sav file in the region folder?  The game will only produce the continue playing/start playing options according the world.sav files, I believe.

this may sound silly, but I was stupid enough to fall for it, did you restart dwarf fort after downloading and putting the save in. it doesnt seem to detect new regions midgame, you have to completely restart in my experience.

No, that is the problem. Thank you.
