12th Felsite.
Humans came. we bought out all of their metal bars, drinks, and bronze weapons (that duke consort really likes bronze). We also bought some dogs. Hopefully, we can breed some war dogs.

Phase one is complete. Phase two is 90% done. Phase three will begin right after, with no delay.

_____________

Does anyone have any guesses as to what I'm doing?
_____________

1st Malachite.
Yes! Phase two done! Phase three started without too many problems. The only mishap was some magma which somehow got onto one of the axles, and burned them up and melted the associated gear assemblies. That problem was easily fixed, but I can't for the life of me figure out why.

16th Galena.
Those axles burned up again. We won't need them for much longer anyway, but I'm having that pump powered in a slightly different way, just to be sure.
One of the volunteer masons got a sudden case of hit-in-the-head-with-magma syndrome, and was rushed to the hospital. A liberal dose of water cured him of that.

Phase three is at 75% completion.

6th Limestone.
Phase three is done. Phase four commences.

Haven't had much free time lately.

24th Limestone.

Inod Ustuthkasben, the Administrator, and a child died today from suddenly-hitting-the-ground disease. As it was my project that caused this misfortune, at the end of the year I will resign as "RULR" and take over the position of Mountainhome Manager.

13th Sandstone.
Ustuth Fikodrithar, an insane farmer tied up in the jail, finally starved to death today.

Phase 4 at 55% completion.

Sandstone is mid-autumn. Four phases.

25th Sandstone.
It is finished!  Finally, after all these months of hard labor, Kolôsust Zilirlamduthnur Rakust (Wheeltamed the Eternal Stone-Guard of Tombs) has been completed. Kolôsust measures 19 units long, 24 units wide, and 20 levels high. He is made of pure, cast obsidian.  I've had some engravers make some engravings of him:

Freaking Armok, this is awesome! I especially like the view from the marksdwarf area. Cast obsidian? That is totally ridiculous, but also totally great! Did you cast a giant block of obsidian and then dug away everything else, did you build some kind of scaffolding and then poured everything in or did you use both?

I constructed a giant mold out of walls, surrounded by up/down staircases (Phase 1). I then built two pump towers for water and magma (Phase 2). Then, I alternatively poured layers of water and magma, forming a solid block of obsidian (Phase 3). I then deconstructed all the walls and staircases, collapsed the pump towers, and carved the statue, which I had designed with Lego Digital Designer and transferred to 20 sheets of graph paper (Phase 4).

Yes, although I did give the dwarves [SPEED:0], but I feel that's justified.

1st Timber.
I have decided to start another project, this time inside the fort. I call it the Fortress Emergency Lockdown Massive Outside Obtrusion Defence, or FELMOOD. It will consist of nine emergency levers, which when pulled, block off passageways all over the fort, so that any large invasions or accidental flooding can be easily handled. There will be one lever which deactivates the system, located at the top of the green tower. Hopefully, the system will go unused.
