From the Diary of Inaluct Kodkadol, Secret Ruler of the Eternal Halls;

Praise the miners! We have struck alunite!

Also, a crazed dwarf has produced a work of art;

This is AN OMEN FROM THE STARS. The a Pine Idol! The very first artifact produced in this barrel hole was a Pine Idol!

Okay, so maybe the first one has more stuff on it. I am not an expert on dwarvish art, but I can tell that the new idol is better. Just look at it. It's AN OMEN! I am destined to free dwarfkind!

I will destroy the tyranny that has kept the dwarves in servitude for so long! It is foretold!

From the Diary or Inaluct Kodakol, Ruler of The Eternal Halls

An elf diplomat has arrived!

I should probably consult some advisers about this. Kill it with magma?

Me. And there's been a change of plans. Barbarossa and me are gonna try and build an aquarium, and the elves are our only shot at getting a whale in a glass cage, so I'm going to try and be nice to them.

By 'be nice to them,' I mean 'ignore them until they bring fish.'

Earlier I asked if you can smelt fish, but it appears that you can only smelt verminfish. However, if we can get enough cats, we can tweak them into whales and such.

This will be a truly amazing aquarium.

I can't wait to see this whale tank, and the whale you guys somehow acquire for it.

Lest anyone forget, there is an underground pool tucked away on the map, ready to accept all the whales you can dump in it as soon as it's rendered safe.  Hmm...  Do whales cause hostile creature interruptions?

And for those who missed it down in General Discussion, inaluct was muted for three days.  Eternity just keeps getting longer...

Ugh. 4 day mute.

Well, I'll update soon. I'm deciding between a few potential spots for the aquarium. I think I have a good one, though.
