Hokay people, listen up.
As a semi-observant follower of this thread I'm seeing a disturbing trend. I see people eagerly signing up, only to disappear after a mere few months wait. Fye on it! These kids have no STAMINA.
And further, you get your hands on the save and go off to a glorious start, only to lose interest once the difficulties start setting in.
"Oh damn I lost half the military to an unlucky ambush and the other half is throwing tantrums."
"Oh boogers, I just flooded the fort. With magma."
"Ohshi- pits!"
or more likely "Oh bloody hell, this place is an incomprehensible mess! I can't even find the food stockpile nevermind the bridge lever."
Shame I say. These things, heavy loads an overseer must bear, they wear you down, do they? A pox on you! These are the things that should INVIGORATE! To work, to strive, to excel! That is the dwarven way. The harder the challenge, the sweeter the reward.
Oh, running a mountainhome isn't such a breeze? Well tough shit. What do think this is? A holiday camp?
THIS IS BLOODY ETERNAL HALLS.

I'll still do my turn, and I'll make sure not to sign up for anything else in the meanwhile.

As the spoiler should be making clear I'm not quite as foamy-mouthed as the post indicates. I certainly can understand if other business come up that take priority over playing a game.
What I object to is those people who simply lose interest. It's not nice to those who actually want to play the game.

Quick update- things going OK so far.

Got a siege right away, and Aqizzar and company handled it personally with no losses.

Meanwhile, got the elven diplomat or whatever, and I was asked to cut down no more than 100 trees for the year. After long thought, I decided to give the elves this token, if only out of respect for the numerous barrels of fine booze they had brought us. I agreed to this and sent them on the way happily.

Meanwhile, things where going ok, but then-
The impertinent Vegetation has defaced a Masterwork!

...

THE GALL.
These plants will pay-

They will all pay.

COMMENCE THE CLEARING! LET NO TREE STAND ALIVE! LET NO SHRUB GO UNROOTED! SCOUR THIS TERRAIN TO THE DEAD SOIL!

Burn all, let not a shrub remain. Fuel the fires, heat the sky, blacken the very sun. No vegetation shall survive the terrible wrath. Fuel the fires, fuel Isenguard! What? Okay, fine, fuel the Eternal Halls, whatever.
