Uhh... Not to alarm anyone, but Sizik someone got himself into a cage trap...

Edit:  Nevermind, you already freed him.

Good so far!  Sounds like a fun year at least and it's good to see progress.

Hehe... There's the problem. I found out where Sizik was about a month or so after I got a message that he had gone insane. In fact, freeing him probably killed him, as when he was in his cage the other dwarves gave him food and water.

Oh but his is brewing a terrible idea - an asylum wing of fortress where we cage all those who go insane.

That's... that's actually an awesome idea. I had not thought of that. Also, Dadamh, either you've been making engravings outside, or the entire fortress has been dampened. I'm getting a message almost every minute that the impertinent vegetation has ruined one of your works.

There was a minor "incident" regarding the wells which resulted in the flooding of the shopping area and the dining room.

Ah. That explains it then. I've pretty much given up on doing anything underground.

12th Galena: Sizik finally died from starvation and is being placed in his incredibly elaborate tomb. Not much else to report so far.

14th Galena: Oh thank the gods, the hammer forgot that he wanted an ‘item’ in his room. On the topic of mandates, so far only one has failed, that being the tax collector’s wish for pig iron items. Forebodingly, he immediately issued another asking for the same.

21st Galena: Happy day, the duchess has given birth to a boy. Okay, honestly I couldn’t care less about the noble clan growing from six to seven. What is good is that she also ended a mandate.

1st Limestone: Besmar Dodokosod has become a legendary champion.

15th Limestone: Finally, the dwarven caravan. We can now fulfill the tax collector’s mandate.

16-17th Limestone: A small goblin ambush and a lone goblin snatcher attempted to sneak through. They were quickly disposed of.

22nd Limestone: It appears that I was overly optimistic. The caravan has brought no pig iron and no flux as far as I could see. In response, I decided to buy out most of the caravan, on the off-chance that we’d get lucky.

7th Timber: Once more, we have not received migrants.

11th Timber: The tax collector has finally ended his insane mandate for pig iron bars. The sacrificial lamb? A mason who shall serve 26 days in prison. And of course, the moment after the sentence is handed down, he once more asked for pig iron items.

1st Moonstone: Winter is upon us. I am honestly quite bored with the lack of any real news. Not to mention annoyed by the endless hordes announcing that to me that they can’t find some item of theirs.

16th Opal: I…. what? Two of our champions, have managed to throw themselves into the river. I don’t know how, and I don’t want to know.

17th Opal: Success! The champion has managed to free himself after the stairway was cleared!

1st Granite: Spring has arrived, and so I take my leave of this fortress, hopefully to never come again. I truly don’t know how this thing managed to function, and I do not care. However, I leave with some sadness, for I was not able to roof over the glass tower.

---------------------

Okay, whoever gets this thing next, you will start out looking at the glass tower. It only needs a few more green glass blocks. They're already being made. Please, just finish the roof.

All in all though, a fairly uneventful year. Only one ambush, no sieges.

Oh, and here's the save.

So I see my old nemesis, the barrel-devouring-monster, struck again.

When you deleted a bunch of notes, you didn't delete my warning about the lever in Dadam's office, did you?  The one that read, "Will flood waterway, then fortress, if pulled."?  Did you?  Because that's the lever that muddied the entire mall.

And damn about Sizik in the cage being freed.  You should have put him on display in the dining room.  I wonder how much a caged dwarf adds to the room value?

"Bomrek was comforted by a wonderful former ruler in a cage recently."

Good writeup!  Sounds at least like an interesting year, even if the fort is a confusing mess at this point.

Ok, next up is Chaoticag.  I'll PM him.

As an aside:  Eita, your turn is up in Nostalgia Fort, if you want it.  Don't know if you want to dive into another succession turn so quickly or not.  Legolord seemed to want to wait for your response rather than reflexively postponing.

Don't worry Aqizzar, I put all the notes back.

Also, Sizik, I would say I'm sorry about your dead dwarf, but just, damn... that is a badass tomb.

Blake Koris is up next.  Thanks, Chaoticag for at least saying you can't in the thread rather than just not showing up.

It would be a shame if such an awesome tomb was not put to use, yes?

Can I put my name on the list for succession? I'm a pretty experienced DF player, with a penchant for giant (usually doomed from the drawing board) projects. This'd be my first succession.
