Ok, the typical procedure with succession games is that people pass around the fortress save file, and each play a year in turn.  They also write up a basic synopsis of each year as they go.

When it's your turn, the previous player will post the save game.  You don't have to have a region like it already, you just unzip that save folder into your DF/data/save directory.  Then, when you start the game, you'll have that region in your "Continue Playing" list.

You play a year, marking down interesting events, and write up the story after you are done.

Ok I understand, what if I get carried away?

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

I'm not really sure what you mean by 'carried away' here.  If you make a lot of weird constructions, that's fine, the fort is screwy anyway.  If you mean that you play past spring, well, that's part of playing succession.  You have to end on Granite 1, the first of spring.  As soon as "Spring has arrived!" appears, you quit, and send the save to the next guy.

Even if I am in the middle of a construction? :(

That's how it goes.  You gotta budget time so you end it by your year.  Or, leave it half done and wait for your next turn, though with this game that might take a while.

I was away from monday to wednesday, so I couldn't play, but I'll get back on it tonight or tomorrow.

Rest of Limestone
8th Limestone
They started building walls outside, so sieges and the like have to pass through a tunnel and infiltrators will
be more easily noticed. Alse, a statue garden is going up in the big constructed area outside.
They added a obsidian stockpile by the magma forges, and started to build floodgates.

12th Limestone
Finally, I have found something better to do than carry around rocks all day. Next to the obsidian stockpile,
they built some workshops for making swords, but there's one problem: There was nobody there! I then dropped
what I was doing (bringing obsidian to the stockpile I was conveniently standing on) and went to one of the
shops and started making swords.

17th Limestone
Merchants from the Mountainhomes arrived. Construction began on those two towers north of the fortress. I
overheard the word "pillbox", but I'm pretty sure that the dwarf just forgot to take his medication.

25th Limestone
Disaster strikes the fortress! First, in a convoluted effort to retrieve a pick from the magma (from when it
was breached by miners, causing five deaths), a miner (who had just given birth) channeled out the support for
the ground she was standing on and, like some kind of wiley coyote, fell to her (and her baby's) death.
About half an hour earlier, a child helping with the deconstruction up on the towers did relatively the same
thing, but safely landed on the floor below. Now, another child attempted the same thing (with a horse, I might
add) but ended up falling off the tower. Eight floors later, they died on impact. Even more tragically, their
falling knocked off Sibrek Martyeredbridges and her son, Rish. The baby died on impact, but Sibrek sustained
major injuries, including a damaged lung and broken spine. Shortly thereafter, she suffocated.

On an unrelated note, some of master engraver Dadam's fine floor photos are being destroyed by plants, due to
the semi-recent flooding. There's still some water floating around. I heard a rumor that he actually doesn't
like art! How ironic that would be, eh?

it was hooked up to 2 cages with goblin wrestlers so I could easily execute the count. To bad my count was such a bad ass as he killed both and left my only metal smith in bed with a broken arm for 3 seasons because he had not made any nickel silver items and thus received a beating from the hammerer

Month of Sandstone
2nd Sandstone
Noone immigrated this year. Seems the approximately ten deaths we've had this year seems like a lot to potential newcomers.

10th Sandstone
Another dwarf named Sibrek, this time a butcher, went moody. In his moodiness, he came and claimed MY workshop, where I was working on a nice obsidian sword. Such nerve! I guess I'll go use the other workshop, where our legendary "stonecrafter" Zan Ducimil (Workwordy) has yet to show up for work.

19th Sandstone
Sibrek started working on his item of legend. It contains lots of gems and metal.

22nd Sandstone
Sibrek finished Enenāzkob "The Ill Incense", an Obsidian scepter

I copied the save so I could see what happens when the fortress floods, and what can be done about it. One thing I noticed is that adventurers can't walk down ramps that are under water.

Towers to the north? Pillboxes? Deconstruction?

What are you doing to my Obelisks? D:

Those children and Dwarves falling to their deaths HAS to be punishment for defacing my great works.

Pushed to the second page? Someone's going to get a hammering! (I'm looking at you, Mr. "Innocent" Soapmaker)

Now your so-called "obelisks" have a connecting bridge lined with fortifications, so that marksmen will rain death from above upon helpless elves goblin sieges. Makes them look like a Π. Hope that doesn't confuse any aspiring adventurers...

Month of Timber
1st Timber
I was kicked out of the obsidian workshop, so that the legendary stonecrafters can make masterwork swords. I went and built my own workshop so I can still work on swords.

18th Timber
Good news! I am now an official stonecrafter! Now I can work on these rock short swords with noone to bother me!
In other news, I heard that they're working on an engineering project to reduce the chance of flooding. It has something to do with pumps and pressure, that's all I know.

26th Timber
The first official test of the Obsidian generator has begun.

I love how the fortress is so fucked up now that the nominal ruler of it has no idea what the hell is going on.

My dwarf isn't the ruler. He's just an avereage Urist.

Month of Moonstone
8th Moonstone
The Obsidian Generator was successful. Plenty of Obsidian is now rolling in for sword production.

21st Moonstone
Problem with the generator. Due to the current design, the water wasn't able to come in contact with the magma, due to the old floor not being able to be dug out. This is going to be fixed soon.
Other projects:
-Easier to access magma dump
-Flood protector
-Artifact storage room
