I amended my above post that had the diagram for the outdoor collapse.  The other design was slightly wrong, but that one will work!  They are a lot of effort to build though.

Why not build stairs right next to the goblin and kill him directly?

This is an intreasting fort. I recently created a world that would be perfect for it. There was only one dwarf fort left in the entire world at 1050, everybody else died in wars.

Its late summer
I have dug everyone rooms and graves and built a large dining hall
I am in the process of moving the stockpiles and workshops deeper underground.
90 Dwarfs call eternal halls their home.

That seems like a good idea, might work.  Since this is some sort of nether goblin.

But usually dwarves won't build a damn thing when there's a goblin (or kobold, or raccoon) around.  So I doubt they would actually go through with it, they'd just stare back at you as if to say "You do it, asshole."

The whole reason I'd do the construction thing, is it allows you to build at a distance that might be more acceptable to the dwarf. Although they still might not go through with it.

But then again, that goblin might not even really be there....by the way, has this been posted in the bug section yet?  :)

Cave King: No worries here! Eternity ain't goin' nowheres! :P  Glad to here someone is taking initiative with the stockpile and workshop situation.  That will certainly help with efficiency of industry!

You'll note that the goblin is completely surrounded by constructed walls.  The dwarves won't attack him, because they don't even register him as being there.  However, they still consider the tile occupied, and won't enter it or build on it either.

Come to think of it, I didn't try stationing a soldier near him.  But the marksdwarves didn't fire at him either, so I doubt that'll work.

May as well just consider it a goblin shaped sign.  Or an impaled goblin corpse.

Somehow I think a corpse that got knocked hard enough to fly forever in the same tile as scarier than an impaled one.

We could possibly use something like tweak to see if it could be fixed, but I'm not sure tweak exists for this version yet.

Oh yeah, forgot bout the walls ;D

I think it's probably the ghost of that hill, come to haunt our fortress for recklessly leveling it.  ;)

horrible I haven't really had time to concentrate on the game.

Its late summer I'm focusing on moving the fortress deeper into the mountain.

Hopefully none of my stoner friends come over I just want to get this DF turn done! No sieges yet and almost everyone has a coffin.

No sieges yet

That worries me, not because I want you to be annihilated by sieges while stoned off your ass, but because that floating goblin makes me worry that sieges won't come.

What the spork?  No goblins?  How did you get a year with no goblin ambushes?  I got four in one season!  With thieves!  Did no one go outside?  Did no kobolds sneak in?

Region13 wants my blood.  It knows I savescummed to keep my avatar from dying during my turn, and now it's waiting for me.
